We have heard our ministers telling the people that we need to pay them the highest salaries and bonuses and life-long retirement benefits and double salaries to retired ministers to avoid corruption.
If ministers indeed sincerely and honestly want to combat corruption they can always take actions to do so.
For example they can make CPIB more independent with all and not just some cases being investigated or reported.
Corruption investigations must be extended widely to cover legal corruption with use of power to approve one's own salary increases and bonuses or retrenchment benefits and insider trading or using relatives or connections to engage in any irregular insider property or share purchases.
Everyone must be within reach by CPIB even without prior knowledge by emperor or powerful CEOs within GLCs. No one should intercede for politicians to favor or protect their connections or interests or wait for his nods of heads before proceeding with investigations. CPIB' chief must be someone appointed independently by politicians.
If we cannot make our system accountable and the highest political power has the power to nod the head to any high corruption investigation then we are not able to achieve our aim of being corruption free.
There must be no secret clubs or organization of elites who could get their lotteries of securing insider high-salary appointments without going through public recruitment processes.
Politicians must set an example of themselves in not rewarding their own connections with high salaries within GLCs or MPs sitting as directors with such companies
