ELINT refers to electronic intelligence, means gathering electronic signals etc (E.g. Radio). For any miltitary to operate, there need to be communication in between the forces. It can provide critical info if intercepted. E.g. USA not stopping Osaman is not relevant to this dicussion on ELINT. That incident is a failure to act on intelligence gathered.
To fight a war, you don't decide you want to, and invade overnight. Troops have to be prepared, and deployed. This applies to the tanks, artillery, AA guns etc. Ships prepared and put out to sea. It's a major coordination, and alot of movement of forces. Not you happy happy, say whack then whack. All these increased activity will be hard to hide, and will be noticed by various ELINT assets.
Before any conflicts breaks out, tensions will be tightened. SAF do not wait until last minute then call up our reserves one, that one I can assure you. So caught napping? Nah!
You will be surprised how fast an airfield can be repaired. Also it's impossible for them to bomb every road. Worst case is setup a makeshift one. So don't worry, our planes will be able to land somehow.
Don't worry. SG won't be caught napping. Can't say alot of stuff, but I assure you Singaporeans is a Kiasu lot. Let's just say if anybody trys anything funny, there will be hell to play.

2. ICM stands for Improved conventional munition (not your ICBM) which can be very useful in taking out malaysian MRLS... if the MRLS is out of our reach... np... we can always tit for tat and shell their country with even more deadly ICM submunitions... unless the MAF is kind enough to pull back its entire troops out of the FH2000 range and conviently enable SAF to do beaching without molestation...
3. any road in singapore that is about 500m long and straight can be use as a backup runway for the fighter planes... although a longer 1500m long road would be require to lauch hercules and KC135.... but... i think we wont need them so soon, since the battle will be quite close to our door...
4. Since the RSAF falcon can still fly despite all the MRLS bullshit... its only fair to note that those falcons are SEADS aircraft...they can really mess up malaysia's air defence...
5. apaches could also prove critical in taking out MRLS, likewise the UAVs which can do a Kamikaze attack... when given the proper loadouts.... -
do u think is it nessecary to aquire the US MLRS or aqquire any cruise missile to counter our neighbour modernisation of its artillery and SAm.......but for the Cruise missile i believe the govt is investing it already...........(opps did i say anything.....no ,MAYBE.)

afterall... we do have tons of money... watever they can buy... we can buy also... and in bigger volumn and higher capability if its available.... -
eh, is it serious? kamikaze UAVs? i never heard those Searchers can be fitted with a warhead or will be fitted with a warhead
also i think strike craft (A-4SU) will be more appropriate to attack MLRS. No commander with half a brain will leave MLRSs on open ground with out ANY air defence. And if he is out in the field, i doubt he'll have anything good enough for a kill on the A-4SU, though he can probably take out the UAVs -
One of the tactics of UAV is to use it as a cruise missile.....it can put in a light warhead or.......jus crash it into enemy structure .Singapore i believe will also adopt this tactic as they rather waste millions to save hundred of lives.........being frank singapore have replace the pioneers UAV (the malat scouts)with the seacher MK II UAVs .......for the pioneers....i believe they were ethier keep as reserves or.....convert to cruisemissiles......same goes to the firefly and the LALEE in the future.

i can deal with the PT90 by encircle them..
I can deal with their sub by fishing for them...
I can take out their hornets and MIGs... with ease by placing SAMs where they will try to hit...
Question is... will the enemy commander allow me the luxury of his stupidity...???

Actually i have this feeling that The iglas host the greatest threat to us.especially the Apache crew and
low flying planes.Imagine u are flying on an open ground it is virtually no hard targets then from no where comes a iglas missile charging towards u.
If u see Black hawk down u will understand what i mean!!!

Actually, I don't see the effectiveness of the PT-91 in the region...where are the open plains, hilly grounds, deserts and basically clear ground you to use the PT-91s? Even putting them on your roads for parade will spoil your roads already. And if you wanna use those MBTs and whack Singapore, the PT-91s won't be able to get anywhere becuase they'll get stuck and cannot be used effectively in FIBUA (Fighting in built-up areas).

the 90s series of tanks maybe use against the Thails...............or use for point defence(however a liitle impossible)...i will say the malaysian govt will not be stupid to buy a weapon which cannot be operate that well....however i will say is that......they did not learn their lesson.........in WWII the british did not use their tanks in the jungle of malaya...because.....their tanks are mainly heavy tanks which cannot operate well in soft ground found almost EVERYWHERE in the jungle( another reason is their tanks are in need in europe and logistic will be hell is they were to bring it to SEA)...however the Japs are smart to use Light tanks......and easily....brush through the jungle........of course the ang moh lose lor..........so this story a little bit related to y singapore uses light tanks intentsively........and y i will say PT-90P may not a good option.

a lot of stuff malaysia buys are for the "spook" factor as well... deterrent... like us... it just seems that they don't have the same stringent selection process as us...
u gotta admit... to a layman, sights of MLRS, MBTs and flashy jets feel good and makes your neighbours think twice before screwing u around... Sg does pretty much the same... except that we think more before we buy stuff... nobody really intends to use them frivolously...
i think the greatest threat is not military hardware, but the political will to use them. -
You got a point, but do remember, that Apaches are armed with some of the best radar warning devices. It can throw chaffs. BTW, the BlackHawks were downed by RPGs, not exactly Igla you know. It doesn't take much to down a BlackHawk, but it will take a lot more to down an Apache, of course, and Apache caught by an RPG on its rotors or engine bay will do sufficient damage to bring it down too -

i think If the RPG blows up near the HELI the consequence would be almost the same since the flying missiles fragment would be shoot like nobody business

The Apache is designed to survive RPG near-hits. Its armour is built to withstand the shock, however i am not sure of a direct hit. The BlackHawk is not heavily armoured, and will not survive an RPG blast.

Surely you guys know little about weapons systems-Keris MLRS comes with a fire control radar truck,command and control vehicle,weather forecast vehicle etc.It is not a stand alone weapons systems.Accuracy is legendary-ask any Iranian soldiers who got blasted by the Iraqi MLRS. -
