Thats got to be about the dumbest theory I've ever heard...when the Tornado deal was dumped Malaysia was still ideological enemies with the then-USSR, and Hornets were just entering service and the Yanks hadn't even put it up for export.
There was only one reason why the Tornado deal was scrapped, M'sia had not enough money, and that was because of the "irregularities" in the deal....

malaysia has had diplomatic relationships with the USSR/russia for a long time(b4 the tornado deal).....
and when i said m'sia was saving for a better fighter,i didnt say they already had the hornets and migs in mind....
and you said the hornet wasnt for export yet then.....
so what?the government of malaysia(GOM) enter talks with boeing for the SHs even b4 the export of the SHs was passed......

Ok...then which fighter? Come on, again your argument doesn't hold water. Malaysia had already agreed to buy the Tornadoes, along with Hawks and in fact was just short of signing the contract when it pulled out citing lack of funds and settled for just Hawks, along with the subsequent dicoversy of irregularities(ie corruption) in the deal. These facts are a matter of public record, no amount of whitewashing or revisionist excuses will change that

the reason is bcoz during the Indonesian Confrontation,malaysia was too weak to defend itself.....so the CW countries like Pak,NZ and UK helped to defend us.....but when we asked the US for help,the US didnt help us bcoz we they couldnt get anything from helping us unlike thailand and the philipines... -

During the confrontation, Singapore armed forces and Australian Army helped too in a big way, and Mahathir and many Malaysians don't like Singaporeans nor the Aussies.... Hmm.... But in an Internet forum like this, if someone chooses to say something, then we have to have the right to reply if we feel hes wrong. As for singapore... i think we knew them too damn well to even consider them as friendlies.....
