this would seem a good choice bcoz the RSAF already has F-16s so maintaining the plane would be cheaper..AMRAAMs most probably would be part of the deal

i heard the RSAF prefers the rafale
good but quite small,
if they chose the rafae,i think they would buy about 30-40
if im not mistaken,the rafale can carry AMRAAMs too

probably the most advanced a/c out of the lot
too expensive...i dont think they will choose the EF

Never,Singapore will never want to buy russian jets...only western
even though the su-30 is really good

very capable a/c, but the US will not give the full version...look at

it is very lightly malaysia might be into the Su-30 since the malaysian mindef is quite fond of russian equipments.......i think russian except palm oil as a payment and cheap most significant of all it is almost comparable to US F-15.....perhaps the raptor...
Malaysia quite possible they will upgrade their existing F-18 to SUper hornet....E\F.
Right now this either we make the decision 1st on the slection of fighter or the RMAF 1st.......i think there is some waiting war going on here between the 2 nations -
I think Singapore is extremely interested in getting the lockheed martin JSF. Cos' they paid 6 million to get security clearance to study the aircraft so i think its is possible. Anyway, super hornets can only be matched by F-15Es, F-22 or JSF in terms of technology so JSF seems to be the best choice

Yes that is a long term plan for singapore airforce,every knew that
Did u went to the Asian Aerospace 2002,there is mock up of the JSF.That plane design is really aerodynamic and steroid......
,I think this plane can be quite exorbitant in some sense if the development turns out to quite costly.
I doubt singapore cant afford it -
the hornet and superhornet are 2 different planes and you cant upgrade a hornet to superhornet

U better than your govt dun buy both Su-30 and Superhornet 2gather like the case of Hornet + Mig-29 otherwise i really foresee yr local are going to have a technical/finanical hardtime operating F-5/Su-30/MIG-29/F-18E/F

Are they trying to show off they have so many varieties of Planes.
YEs they are up to date machines except F5 but dun tell me your govt are not have some problems with all these fighter jets worse russians have this problem of not producing requested spare part on time or late delivery due to ineffective logistic support

i say sell the F-5s and operate superhornet for butterworth and migs for kuantan and su-30s for sabah
the reason we buy from many sources is bcoz if one source is cut off,we can still buy from somewhere else..
it is a key policy in our arms procurement -

No doubt RSAF may be interested and even paid clearance to study the aircraft (all it's tech except for the stealth tech..which is a national secret) I doubt it'll be getting it anytime soon.....Who knows RSAF might be trying to design it own jet like taiwan? SU-30's got bad reputation...so many failures and crashes that I think that's wat might be keeping the RMAF from making the final decision.
Btw abang..........heard your airforce is getting AWACS too....... any news about it? -
AWACs depends on the availability of funds...
the options are the E-2C hawkeye(RSAF is also using this)
or installing AEW&C on a C-130 airframe....
BTW,what other nations in SE Asia have tankers??

about the su-30,
if msia gets the su-30,i predict they will based on the su-30mki...
the su-30mki is india's new version...it has all the advanced features of the su-37 superflanker and much more....
if msia gets the su-30....it will most likely be the best ATA combat a/c in SE asia -
Buying it is one thing , mantaining it is another 1 , it will be such a waste if the Su-30 ends up like the MiG~

I still maintain my principle on this issue... RMAF may have the most advanced(?) fighter aircraft in the region, but it does not have to capabilities to use it to its full potential. I am not saying this because I'm jealous, but looking at RMAF's past records on maintenance and pilot capabilities, I doubt more than 60% of the sqn will be operational. The 8 F/A18Ds do not bother me due to the same fact as above. (Lets not even bring up the MIGs.)

By the way, will your government be considering the Tyhoon or Rafale? Typoon seems an unsafe bet, since it is totally untested...even if the provide Metor, I still wun trust sch a plain....Metor itself is untested.
