Has PM Lee countrered cyberspace government critisms ?

Our leaders like MM Lee often talk as if their policies, and assumptions are always correct and infallible.
PM Lee has challenged people to robust debates. Vivian Balakrishnan have also openly invited non-conformist people to take part in policy debates.
As a test to our PM and Ministers' words of honour and sincerity to engage the non-conformist citizens, I applied to join in their internal policy debates within youngpap.
So far my self-invitation was not accepted. There were hardly any logical or good replies of substance to many posts of forumers here on their condemnations of our ministers giving themselves big sweep first prizes based on wishy-washy benchmarking which could hardly convince any 3-year old kids.
Many posts in youngpap forum and other forums on major government policy errors were hardly robustly countered with acceptable facts or figures by minister Lui Tuck Yew who announced his plan three months ago to counter cyberspace government criticisms.
What do all these inabilities to carry out promises or robustly debate people's views on government policies which went wrong like the NKF or Shin Corp.
By MM Lee's showing of disdain towards cyberspace government criticisms, it only shows that he is not as cosmopolitan as he claims in his latest speech.
All these facts only show one thing - there is no such thing as talents or global talents or ministers being worth blank pay checks as none of them none or not many of the ministers who have resigned to join the private sector have been turning around big businesses or making many more millions than when they were in service.
Truths are truths and will always remain truths. Untruths about the worth of our ministers will eventually be debunked by citizens in this internet age. -

Don't help the regime to spread fear among us

Using the fear threat is the most undemocratic and inhuman pyschological weapon ayone would use.
Many authoritarian regime used it, some in violent ways - which is stupid. In here, fear is instilled in many indirects like voting slips with numbers, upgrading fear etc..
Oh yes, I wish he would sue everyone - arrest all forumers who post anti-government. I am ready for it. We will make sure tThe whole world gets the full cover story if that happens.

Singaporeans must learn to stand up against a high-handed and conviving regime.
Why cant we be like the Koreans and Taiwanese? These people will fight for their rights. They are brave and their Government fear them. Down here, the opposite is true, most people have been psyched to fear the Government.
Do you understand what I am saying - I repeat: We are living under a rule of fear, a dictator who applies psychology to frighten you.
The present government has no voice to fight for the people. Only one man makes all the decision.
Singaporeans are smart in many ways, but come to politics - many are incredibly gutless - and unthinking ! -

I think we've been kinda disencouraged and so on, that's why we only complain and complain and complain but never make any substantial actions other than complaining.

I don't think PM Lee surf sgForums. He may have pop in once just to have a look, but I don't think he would regularly check to see what's going on. There are many other forums and he can't check them all out. But I believe his informers does. And these informers report a watered down version of the buzz that is going on about government policies.
As for countering cyberspace criticism, I think, it is left to the PAP supporters, who post on their own accord. The government do not entertain annoymous criticism. What more he thinks the press releases say it all, and he is so used to having the last word and end the matter. -

What if the media and all the ministers and yesmen in government lack the courage and were too afraid to tell him the truths and he governs the country based on such fear to tell the truths by his subordinates.
So it is proper for PM Lee not to assume that criticisms are bad or negative. He ought to show that he is a different person from his father and is more willing to hear bad news and accept the truths from the people. -

But as events have proven, he is simply going on taxing and recovering all possible costs to build more and more surpluses which do not benefit the ordinary citizens.
Despite all the past wrongful over-charging of people on housing and LTA and GLCs through creative accounting, he is basically so far not giving away one inch to help ordinary citizens to cope better with their dropping wages and rising costs.
All that he is doing is to continue to justify past wrongs and give away small goodies and rebates to entrench past policies even longer. -
i can only come to one conclusion...
those who gave up their chance to make a real difference in the actual elections for arguing in the internet... basically threw everything away... -

Source of MRT suicide clip footage a mystery

More than two months after clips of two suicides on MRT tracks were posted on the Internet, setting Netizens abuzz, the case of the unauthorised SMRT recording has ended without any conclusive source of the leak.

The police had conducted a probe and submitted their findings to SMRT, but "the person identified ... is not an SMRT (employee), nor from the other agencies (Land Transport Authority and the police) that have access to the footage," said an SMRT spokesperson.

However, Today understands the person used to have a working link with SMRT.

Still, "no criminal offence has been disclosed" based on police investigations, a police spokesperson told Today.

The police, who interviewed the 16-year-old blogger who had put the clips on his website, have also told him that no charges will be pressed.

"They only asked me down (to the police station) because they were curious how I got the videos," wrote the teen in his blog.

The incidents occurred at Yishun and Admiralty stations.

SMRT has been looking into the police findings since the start of March, but now its investigations into the circulation of the closed-circuit television footage (CCTV) are over.

"We have reviewed our processes to control access to such material. This has already been completed and implemented," said the SMRT spokesperson.
Now, "access to CCTV footage is only upon authorisation by one designated senior member of the company".

One engineer working for Nicol Highway pointed out the safety problems at this site but he later committed suicide when his request for transfer out of the site due probably to safety concern was ignored.
People have given feedbacks after the Nicol Highway collapse asking why the structural drawings and computation on the collapsed shoring works below the Nicol Highway tunnel were not checked by BCD and issued with Permit to commence work only after approval of necessary computation but BCD at a seminar held at HDB Hub in 2006 simply covered up the issue by saying that there was internal checking by the relevant department under some sort of subcommittee supervision.
Is this called structural checking as defined under the amended BCA. It looks to me it is all a gland cover-up of the Nicol Highway collapse where the real cause of the collapse is non-approval of structural drawings and computations by BCD.
None of the million-dollar ministers or top civil servants responsible to run the BCD appear to be accountable for such major mistake or negligence. -

Fourthly, the private sector CEOs earning the talented salaries were only paid the salaries and not all the life-long pensions and any amounts of bonuses and other perks as ministers are paying themselves. When these hidden benefits are accounted for our ministers are actually earning much higher salaries than the CEOs they are benchmarking to.
Some ministers are even receiving double salaries - one in retirement packages and one for full minister's salaries. Which CEOs in the private sector are receiving such double pays.
Why did the ministers not declare these other benefits they are receiving in the benchmarking? Have ministers deceived the public taxpayers in writing their own pay cheques ?
Therefore are ministers are not disclosing all the details in the fine print or being accountable at all. How long can the ministers carry on deceiving the taxpayers and the citizens from whom they are taking such monies. -

1st, I think LHL doesn't read this site, but he does get his PAP/staff to read and send him summaries.
2nd, when he reads these negative comments, he most likely does not reflect on them, but instead thinks about how they are wrong and/or how he can counter them. If he really listens to the people, he would never have given the ministers the raise.
3rd, just before the elections, LHL would give out free $$$ in new-s'pore shares etc, and announce more districts are slated for upgrading. With the windfall, most people would vote PAP.

In 2002, among my various posts to the Feedback Unit I suggested that since Singapore is a small country and instead of confronting Mahathir and other Asian Leaders with spats of all kinds, the government should conduct its foreign relations with other Asean Countries with a strategy of building confidence and trust among the people of two countries. I suggested people of Asean should start some kinds of people-to-people projects.
Tonight it was announced by PM Lee over the news the government has launched certain People-to-People projects involving youths of Asean countries.
There was not a single acknowledgement from Feedback Unit such original ideas were actually from the people. Before this our ministers were regularly engaged in quarrels with Mahathir to the benefit of no one. -
