In an objective sense, CM06 has a point. I don't advocate the downfall of PAP, rather a credible and sizable opposition to control their arrogance, and keep them down to earth. If the entire govt disappears, I do believe there will be some chaos, no matter how you look at it. We WON'T die, but we will suffer to some extent -
To be truth, without PAP, we won't die lah. Listen to this wonderful lyric:

There was a time when troubles seem too much for us to take it but we did.
We can't keep on relying on one party forever, we have not try it and we already fear the effect and result. That is why the PAP are attacking these weak spot, saying if we don't choose them, we will have a horrible ending.
If we sense something is seriously wrong, it mean we need someone to check on them. Like Durai case, MP refuse to listen to public complaints and check on them. After four yrs, it need the help of a journalist to expose the evil plot by Durai. After that, some charity org suddenly have internal problems arise. What have they done these four years allow pple hard earn money to be drain by these suckers.
I sure Singapore have alot of brainy guy but PAP personally choose those who want high pay. I smell a rat here. It just like if one is corrupted, it need the pple around him to be corrupted so that no one will dare to expose one another.
PAP like pple who will say these gullible words:
.As long as they improved the economy, we don't care what they do.
.As long as service is improved, we don't mind the increase.
In the end, nothing seem to improve, I see alot of shops closed down due to high rent, PUB . They can show us whatever improvement in economy etc, but who know they will do any change to make the figure look nice nice. Nobody know, only themselves know.
The decision is we want to see the effects & results now or we are like their supporters who fear to see changes. We will never see which one is better leaders if we stick to one party. -

She said they the shop owner did not ask for it but HDB simply placed it there to collect rent. They don't need the rubbish container at all. Govt earning $$$$ at the expense of the shop owner who struggle to make a living. So sickening and uncalled for!! She told me many of the other shops closed down because the rental from govt is too high for them to go on their business. Sigh!!!
Is earning $$$$ at the expense of the people top on the list of the ruling party, I wonder!

But right now, I'm a bit more concerned about issues of the present and the future. They can harp all they want about their glorious past, but if they can't convince me that they can help bring a properous future to my country, then I have to question them about that.
To use an analogy.... If you did very well for your PSLE ten years ago, then I congratulate you for it. But right now I'm a lot more concerned about your most current grade point average. -

Everyone.... stand up for what is right!!!!!!!!! Is it a case of winner takes all? What if PAP get more than 50%, will there be any oppositions in the parliament? if they don't get all, whose policies will be implemented?
Besides, in a national poll like this, many people will vote to maintain status quo. Honestly not many people want to make a completely change to the current situation, especially in the absence of a workable alternative.
If there is a call for all singaporean to write a note to the politician they support, how many do you think will write to the opposition, how many would even take the trouble to write?
Lets be practical, just support your local opposition, before, during and after election, even if it is just moral support. This is the least they would need. -
Actuli, it is world war 2 that let the whole world know that how important independence is to a nation. Singapore is actuli part of Malaysia, LKY do not want to be separate from M'sia in the first place, it is M'sia who view LKY as troublemaker and suggest the separation. You see on television that LKY cry in black and white screen, you think he cry because we are independence. No, you are wrong, because we are separate from M'sia. So what if you win your argument? Do u get money? Do the party u support win? Do anything get changed at all in the current government?
If you're posting during your office hours, you're stealing your employers' time, not to mention unauthorised usage of his equipment. So how are u different from the pap, according to all the complains/unhapiness here against them?
The numerous comments and opinions posted here....is it all personal? All infered from some article or experiences your had came across? Did anyone really go do a survey or something to support your suggestion against removing pap? Did anyone really sit down and think about the consequences?
If you can't even convinced the majority here to your views, how the hell do u think u can do one tiny thing to change the government?
