Now people want real solutions not be bought with goodies

Why are people angry with the slightest things that happen e.g. NKF, tiffs of our ministers with neighbouring countries, ministers' benchmarking of their salaries to top earners in the private sector ?
It is not because people cannot let them run the country based on trust or cannot afford to pay the ministers more but it is basically because of hypocrisy.
People are not that stupid in seeing on hindsight that for the past 40 years government has frequently used tactics like instilling fears of all kinds like need of leadership, talent, and avoidance of welfarism.
What do they see after past 40 years of fear tactics. Do their lives become better and better or their saving and retirements improve or do they come across more problems?
After paying more and more fee increases and more taxes based on such tactics like fears the government is seen to be only interested in getting the HDB to make extra profits and building up government surpluses to enable ministers to ask for more pays and spend on projects which benefit the foreigners.
People may get disillusioned and do not believe the government especially after another round of their own salary icnreases while the ordinary citizens are suffering dropping wages with many free lunches enjoyed by the favoured connections.
Thus today people do not care for the leadership tallk or the danger of welfarism, or losing talents.
People want more freedom and the government to stop all the hypocrisy and practising a system of over-taxing or recovering all possible costs and accumulate taxes to form surpluses which do not benefit them except for election goodies.
People want real talents who could understand their needs and aspirations which is to have jobs and improving wages and not the constant talks about leadership and talents.
They want government to give equal opportunities to all - small as well as big businesses and lowering of costs of living caused by GLCs monopoly and profiteering.
