Lets look at the big picture, instead of what has happen in the past which is how much percentage, that pap won in the LAST PICTUREOriginally posted by Gazelle:If you want to talk about big picture, then why should we be talking about the % of PAP victory. We should rather be saying yeah, a win is a win.
i will challange you go dig out those information which I have request, include the 31.7% which you have forgotten to mention.

this bloody sentence is, telling us that, Hey we are the government, and we are not going to protect your rights, and we are in favour of the company interest more than yours
we are not expecting a comfortable life, we have to earn it ourselves, but when the standard of living is raising, but our paycheck is not raising at all, and who do we look for, the government, because we vote them into power, and so, they shalt protect our rights, instead of increasing the gst, over the past 5 years
Relax relax.....why the angst?Perhaps you have misunderstood my intention.
This was what Gazelle posted: "If you are a loser you are a loser, there is nobody to blame but yourself. Because you can say that this country if fcuk type but look around there are tons of people in Singapore who is having a really comfortable life."
He's saying that losers should not blame LKY or anyone else but themselves. This, if I interprete correctly from his posts, refers to the individual's standard of living as shown in his last sentence above.
I was just trying to tell him that it does not mean if a person wants LKY out, it's because he is not coping well with the cost of living in Singapore. People who are living really comfortably may also want LKY out. After all, we are all Singaporeans. We want the best for everyone, right?
A person's quality of life is not the point here. It's this country's governance.
if a person standard of living is not the point, then why do we still want to stay in this country? what are you talking about? if the citizens are not happy with the government, do you think we will still vote for them if our quantity of life is poor or at least min standard?
LOOK PLEASE DON'T BE A FOOL LIKE HIM, who doesn't know what is he saying!
It would probably be helpful if I rephrase like this: A person's 'below par' quality of life is not the only determinant why many are unhappy with the current governance.

Be patient, my friend. There are still many apathetic Singaporeans out there, not caring much for politics. However, with recent increases in GST and ministerial salaries, I hope there would be more exposure.Originally posted by allentyb:Seriously, i don't know how to rephrase my sentence so that he will understand the agony that is what the current public is facing,
our day to day lives are going to be affect by the bills that the government has passed, and we as citizens, are concerned about our needs, and the impression that the government is giving us, is that, they prioritise the corporation over us, think the lower the tax of corporate tax by 2% and increase the gst by 2 % to fill up the gap.
what are we, suppose to think? Our understanding and patience have been abused by the government, and we should keep quiet, and lie low, meh?
it is this sort of people, that are damaging the reputation of PAP.
I don't hate the government, i merely hate the way, they handle the situation.
If i have to vote for the opposition in order to see changes, then i will, because i am willing to take chances, in order to see reform in singapore, then maybe, just maybe, PAP will learnt that, citizens are not to be taken for granted.
I don't see any irony there - what else would you expect a fascist regime to do to boost their coffers? If abetting multinational corporations by exploiting the peasants is what would yield them the financial returns they want, why not?Originally posted by allentyb:Seriously, i don't know how to rephrase my sentence so that he will understand the agony that is what the current public is facing,

Dont try to talk like a politician or a lawyer my friend. Just answer the damn questions since we speaks like you are capable of alot of big things in life.Originally posted by allentyb:Lets look at the big picture, instead of what has happen in the past which is how much percentage, that pap won in the LAST PICTURE
goodness, you need to take a reality check on your sentence,
if PAP continue in their wilful behaviour which is, keep on increase the gst, which will happen in the next GE,
if this is not a big picture, then continue on living in year 2006, where PAP [b]won [/url] the election
you really just don't understand, what mistake, you make in your sentence, AH??????????

If you want to talk about statistic and vote, you better be accurate, all else you are just like what you accuse the government of doing manipulating numbers.
i already answer your questions and you are not capable to handle a serious debate, you never read enough news bulletinOriginally posted by Gazelle:Dont try to talk like a politician or a lawyer my friend. Boy, are you desparately in need of a 'win' in an argument ?
Do I have to help you to win your argument ? Need more spoon feeding with the 31.7% ?
Go figure it out, and play with the 10% on the principal number, and see how close you get to this 31.7% that you believe to be in error.
If you believe yourself to be a super-genius, prove it.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------This is not about arguement dude, this is about facts. The fact is that you have made a fundamentally wrong calculation and you are now trying very hard to cover your own blunder, and disappointing those who think you have done a brilliant job.
You dont need to be genius to know that the population of Singapore Residents include both citizens and PRs.
Thanks allentyb for your suggestion, may take your advise when pressure of work takes me off the line, otherwise its fun to reel in a good dumb one that is prepared ''to swallow hook, line and sinker''.Originally posted by allentyb:Atobe, why bother to reply to his ignorant post anymore, he is just another sore loser, who just refuses to give up, even though he should have known that he is at the losing end, i don't know what else, to describle this person,

You are good with your line of presentation of your thoughts.
You've enough questions of your own flawed arguments to answer, instead of jumping from one thread to another to espouse your drivel which makes for nothing more than comical reading...Originally posted by Gazelle:Dont try to talk like a politician or a lawyer my friend. This guy doesn't know what constitutes the Ivy League colleges and still makes a case for comparing the "top and bottom" colleges within the Ivies. He doesn't know the factors affecting the circulation and printing of money and plainly assumes any mint could print their currencies at will. Oh, and did I mention he was about to get started on conducting a masterclass on how government bonds work?Originally posted by allentyb:Atobe, why bother to reply to his ignorant post anymore, he is just another sore loser, who just refuses to give up, even though he should have known that he is at the losing end, i don't know what else, to describle this person,
