It is not difficult to understand why our government has become arrogant?
It is because 66.6% of citizens are easily brainwashed by daily fear tactics and selective comparisons by self-centred ministers and their controlled newspapers by cleverly making selective with countries (much like selective benchmarking of their ministers' salaries to a few lottery winning CEOs in the private sector) which for historical reasons are experiencing problems or going through a bad patch.
But sadly the citizens are easily swayed into believing the ministers that by following democracy like Taiwan or Thailand or Philippines there will be chaos and instability.
The fact is how many selfishly run autocracy is not experiencing worse chaos and suppressions and even large-scale genocides.
So it is important people must be independent in their thought and intellect to be able to check on abuses which is the biggest cause of instability and chaos.
Without such quality, they will easily be brainwashed into believing all the selective comparison and lies that there will be instability if people are allowed freedoms to express their views or criticize wrong policies of the government..
At one time our leaders have regularly regarded India and China poorly managed countries suffering from rampant problems but at least their ministers are not trying to write their own pay cheques and are properly elected unlike ours which claim to be elected when they cleverly set up GRC to create walkover or no contest and claim to have mandate of 66.6% to do as they like.
Now look at how they restructure the economies over the last three recessions.
They have not created real value-adding and technology-driven industries among its own domestic sector but are claiming success all because the world finally recovers to give our IR a chance to show off some GDP and property growth which only shallow minded talents would claim as success.
What is so talented about our ministers if none of them could succeed in restructuring the industries or motivating its citizens to come up with world beating products like the Toyota or Nokia with better education and technology start-ups and making the country more efficiently run.
Now they have even tried to copy new technology start-up investments from India and China. What a bull all the talk about leadership and talents worth being paid another million every few years. -

What have PAP having 82 seats got to do with exclusion or inclusion of CSJ
Why do you want to reduce your options by ONE with the exclusion of CSJ ?

It is all about the administrative support that CSJ and the other Alternative Parties must organise themselves to have a Research Team that provide the important substantiated information.

Even now that the PAP has all the 82 seats in Parliament, and with some of the PAP Back Benchers playing the role of the Devil's Advocate in representing the Alternative Singaporean Views - are they representative of your desired 'good opp in parliament' ?
Even the other two seats held by Low Thia Kiang and Chiam See Tong, Singaporeans have seen effective debate contribution only from WP Low, and also from NMP Sylvia Lim.
Chiam is practically warming his seat and has not been effective in debating on any issues due to his poor backup support in a professional Research Team.
Chiam could have served like the retired PAP Chairman Dr Toh Chin Chye, who left the Cabinet and played the role of a Back Bencher to the fullest, unlike the present crop of 82 MPs.
Dr Toh once said '“In this last term, I hope I will be of public service and not a wallflower in the chamber of parliament of a dumb cow.”
“I would say the generation of the ‘50s and ‘60s took the plunge into politics without ever calculating the costs of the risk and the benefits to be gained. They were driven by ideology. Today’s generation has no culture and averse to taking political risk. Really, an interest in politics is very necessary for the future. But I cannot blame the present generations, because they see the heavy-handed response by the government to dissenting views, even though they know that these matters involve their daily lives.

If Parliament is not about the division of seats to provide a balanced debate and a more consultative government, then why bother spend good money in going through the motion of an election every five years ?
Dr Toh also once said that "when a Parliament is nearly equally divided, there can only be a consultative government".
Surely, you will not claim that your wisdom is more profound than that from a founding father of Singapore and a trusted ally of LKY ? -

I error plenty...... i admit. But it seems to me that it is OK for CSJ to error as many times as he like.... but Govt can't error at all. One Shin Crop and everyone start saying people should stepdown.... yet CSJ can't even backup his 'Billion dollars to Indoneasia' claim and thats is OK This my friend.... is Hypocrisy People i support can make mistake.... others cannot.

Only time and yourself will know - if you have learnt from your past mistakes.
If you must know if he has learnt from his past mistakes, and whether he is shooting his mouth off without being able to support his position - buy a copy of his latest book and see how much he has changed.
If the book is written without any support to the details written, just wait to see if 'you know who' will sue him back into deeper bankruptcy.
If no legal suit is forth coming - then you will already have your answer PLUS knowing what he has written is correctly substantiated.

When the Government makes an error - just ONE Shin Corp - it cost THREE BILLION DOLLARS of SINGAPOREAN TAX MONEY.
The reason why CSJ cannot back his 'BILLION DOLLAR to Indonesia claim' is very simple, information was not forth coming from the Singapore Government, after it had announced that it "has pledged US$10 BILLION to support Suharto during the 1997 financial meltdown"
The Singapore Government stalled the court trial of CSJ and prevented him from engaging a Queen's Counsel when no Senior Lawyer in Singapore was prepared to represent him against LKY and GCT.
An open trial was never conducted that would have allowed the entire matter to be brought into full public review; and regretably the entire matter was foreclose by a summary judgment that was rushed through to find CSJ guilty.
If Goh Chok Tong was reported in the Straits Times to have flown into Jakarta with a highly publicized mission to pledge a US$10 BILLION package to support a failing Suharto attempting to prevent a complete meltdown of the Indonesian currency and economy - why must the entire matter = of the money actually being transferred - be held secret from Singaporeans ?
This matter received a simple statement from LKY and GCT in Parliament, but the matter remains unsatisfactorily resolved.
Unfortunately for Singaporeans, there is no statutory limit for Government information to be held Secret, and Government documents will forever remained locked away from public scrutiny - unlike in the other First World Countries, where the Citizens can review past government actions, so as to allow LESSONS TO BE LEARNT FROM THE PAST.

Do you think that Singapore's over-inflated Talented Leaders are self-made and not born from their mothers' womb, and live in an isolated world without any intellectual inputs from other sources ?
