I thought i read somewhere that he met up with the Democrats presidential candidates obama and hillary. It'd certainly be good to see how this regime gets on with the US should the next President be a Democrat.
The thing is and I hope this is not going to continue to built up as a pre-requsit for singapore PM to provide advise to the President of the United States. LKY, GCT, and now LHL. The administration had sought view from LKY, but I think LHL simply suck it up.Originally posted by dakkon_blackblade:Well, the advice on the Middle East situation is at least rather sound. One of the major reasons behind US' negative image amongst Muslims worldwide is the perception that it is too biased towards Israel. It's not a panacea for America's Middle East woes, but taking firm and objective action to promote Middle East peace, especially resolving the Palestinian problem in a fair and viable manner, would go a long way.
But then, on the other hand, PM Lee is not really saying anything that's really new. Plenty of scholars have said the same things all these years; it's just that previous administrations, including this one, had chosen not to listen.
Why would he meet up with Obama or Clinton? Bush is debarred - by the Constitution - to run for a 3rd term anyway.Originally posted by Arapahoe:I thought i read somewhere that he met up with the Democrats presidential candidates obama and hillary. Looks like he is doing his ground work already.

The next president will be likely a Democrat & I hope he/she will not be so simplistic in dealing with the little red dot. He/she might deal with it as follows:Originally posted by Arapahoe:I thought i read somewhere that he met up with the Democrats presidential candidates obama and hillary. Do you seriously think the thug even knows what he's doing? Then again, having a Democrat in charge of the Executive has got to be as good as it gets in terms of ensuring the US marginalises rogue regimes the world over as far as possible...Originally posted by Atobe:
As LHL had stepped on China's toes when he visited Taiwan in the early days when entering the Singapore Cabinet, is he not already setting the scene to antagonise the Democrats ?
Oh! i couldn't find the article but I thought I read somewhere that LHL had met up with the Obama and Hilary during this visit.Originally posted by walesa:Why would he meet up with Obama or Clinton? Bush is debarred - by the Constitution - to run for a 3rd term anyway.
He has been busy meeting out to thrash out deals with Nancy Pelosi (Majority House Speaker) to ensure he gets enough support from Congress to fund his nonsensical adventures in Iraq...
i do not believe that any US administration both parties would take LHL serious enough, but rather than diplomatic treatment as a leader of a Country.Originally posted by Atobe:With Bush's impulsive and simplistic mentality, one wonders if he know which Lee he was referring in his speech of acknowledgement.
Did he confuse LHL with the senior Lee ?
Speaking to anyone with a sense of political clarity will be an intellectual experience for Bush, should we believe in the bluster of pride for the praises that Bush showered on LHL ?
As LHL had stepped on China's toes when he visited Taiwan in the early days when entering the Singapore Cabinet, is he not already setting the scene to antagonise the Democrats ?
LHL did encourage Bush to stay the course in Iraq, even as almost the entire Congress - a house majority by Democrats supported by some from the minority Republicans - had voted against Bush's unending military adventure in Iraq.
If LHL had met with the Congressional Leader Polossi, not much was mentioned - is there any reason for the lack of publicity to this event ?
Did Polossi give LHL a piece of her mind concerning his encouragement for Bush to stay the course, or was LHL shrewd to meet with Polossi before Bush, leaving her in the dark about his real message to Bush ?
The US politicians from the Democrats and Republicans may soon get to know more about the shrewd methods employed by a monopolistic political style of a ONE Party System from this Little Red Dot.
Seeing how this bugger talks, it's like he got coached by Daddy. Unfortunately, either Daddy is underestimating the Yanks, or he's a poor imitator of Daddy or both. Quite frankly, making such political statements in the current climate in Washington is political suicide. Fortunately, the US press doesn't pay much attention to Singapore so we won't have demonstrators in front of our embassy.Originally posted by Arapahoe:i do not believe that any US administration both parties would take LHL serious enough, but rather than diplomatic treatment as a leader of a Country.
The only person right now that the US listened to take reference is probably LKY. He visited the white house met up with Cheney and Bush on the middle east subject.
The thing is I don't think LHL fully understand how he should project himself as a leader of a country. its one thing to support a policy of a country is another thing to get into the mids of republican vs democrats issue. Withdraw with dates or no dates. Bush terms is ending and he is going to face the next President and most likely is a democrats.
LHL should know by now Democrats controlling both houses and pulling out is only a matter of time irregardless of what Singapore perspective. Even if bush does not pullout the Democrats will pull troops out, once they win the 2008 election.
So while LHL asserting the message of engaging in Asean. I find the rest of the message on iraq was just unnessary at this point. He doesn't have a Tact on public speaking...LKY never past down that gene to him on how to speak as a leader so that it is respecting n worth listening.
Seriously, it makes little difference. This regime comprises largely of idiots who do not fully understand the political dynamics of the US.Originally posted by Jinpa:Just before he became PM, he visited Taiwan to antagonise China.
Now, China has snubbed us by by-passing Singapore for their Olympic
Games torch relay route.
Just before Bust step down, and most probably the Democrats takes over,
he visted US and get himself closely aligned with the Bush Administration,
and antagonise the Democrats.
Next, the US will snub us by shifting its investments to Indonesia or
Malaysia.
How extraordinary!
yeah... I was thinking of the 2nd consideration.Originally posted by richong 3216:By encouraging bush to stay the course in Iraq he will antagonise:

mind for us
