i saw a similiar website b4........but forget liao where.....it also state that Spore have the F/A-18......but..i personelly believe not true lor............Spore did send officials to look at the plane however ........the falcon was still chosen........i believe maybe intell realise Malaysia is buying at that time...or had found out falcon is a better deal as the Israel will help us upgrade to a better version.........maybe because of the trial of the hornet....many amatures got misunderstood......

Perhaps WAF got their info mixed up. RSAF eveluated the F/A18 and F16 at the same time. However Malaysia received their hornets in 1998 if i am not wrong...
The FAS wbsite is also suspect. The first impression it gives me is that it is not very "professional". The 18 hornets could have been mixed up with the falcons as well. Funny the website did not mention the AMRAAMS. -

when i when to PLAB i last yr(forget is this yr or not).....there is a small model of the typhoon with the symbol of the RSAF presenting in the eurofighter display counter.....then together last yr....i have read the Strait times that singapore aqquired the typhoon fighters.....however i dare not be sure is aqquired or planing to aqquire......blurrrr can anyone account for this

I have seen the model as well. It is just to illustrate the fighter in RSAF colours. MINDEF has not released any news yet so i doubt any fighter has been acquired. Eurofighter has been very aggressive in marketing the plane, it is literally pasted on buses and newspapers.

Nah, I think the author mistyped - it was the F-16 C/D block 52 that they have got in 1994. Lots of typo in that page, eg.
KC-135 was put down as KC-125
btw, I am intriged by this though:

Why did Singapore ask for F404 and F414 engine components? F404 engines are used by A4 that I can understand, but what about F414 which is only used by F-18 E/F - another typo or is there something we really didn't know... (ie, not public domain yet) -
Is it possible to modify the engines or the plane to put it on a plane RSAF operates?

F-16 modifications not really alot...especially the engines... customers either select General Electric or Pratt Whitney engines for the F-16.. perhaps its not juz any engines can be easily use from one aircraft to the other. Performance, fuel limit, thrust output, stress factor has to be taken into consideration...that's my two cents view abt that... its possible that s'pore might have gotten the F/A-18 parts as replacements(since replacement might not always be available from the nearest US base 24/7)...since there is a squadron of USAF F/A -18 based in s'pore...

I am not sure if there are F/A-18s based in Singapore. Maybe if there is a carrier air group on station, we'll have Navy or Marines hornets in SIngapore, but other than that I don't see a requirement to have a detachment here. You could be right, the engines could have been ordered to support the detachments, but once again I doubt it is our duty to pay and provide for their logistical supplies.

I think the spare parts is 4 a-4su engine...as u all know...e a-4 is use f18 engines except is non afterburner...
