However, I think it would give them a lame reason to increase the price of healthcare, as they can claim that they have shortage of manpower.
Following is a copy of the email that i sent to Singapore General Hospital (SGH) yesterday.Seriously hope something can be done:
[b]"Established in 1821, the SGH is Singapore's oldest and largest acute tertiary hospital and national referral centre."That is what is said in the "About Us" section. But i have to say the service is substandard, considering it is the largest acute tertiary hospital and national referral centre.
To begin,i went to A&E yesterday at 1147am,that was the time i registered. But i left the hospital at 1935.I had suffered a 4cm wound on my left foot that was so deep that polyclinic referred me to SGH.They had done a dressing for me already but there was still some bleeding.I was also unable to move my left leg at all,and unable to walk as a result. But i was only stitched up at 7pm.I had my xrays taken already by 1pm,but till then till 7pm,i was just sitting on the wheelchair hoping for the doctor to come.I was to see the specialist for bones, and i was told there was only 1 doctor on duty and he had to attend to emergencies as well.Fine,i agree that there are more serious patients than me,but come on,think for a second, broken bones are very common.Isn't it only wise to have more doctors for that area.I mean since it is the largest hospital in Singapore there would mean a high number of patients, and it is only right that there are enough doctors around to tend to the patients.I mean having just 1 doctor for a certain area is simply absurd. There were 3 other patients and their families were also asking what kind of service it was. After all we pay taxes.
Ok now for the second part. There were no more appointments available yesterday so i was told i would be given a call byt he appointment department.I received a call this morning saying it was on the 22nd of May.I mean 11 days before my stitches come out? I told the nurse that and she said 'well if you get an infection go to the polyclinic'.What kind of service is that? Can't you tell what is important and what is not.And besides it would take just 10minutes.So for 11 full days,i am going to have my foot bandaged, with stitches intact and look for infections?I am not a doctor please tell me how to see infections.
I would not be surprised if i do not receive a reply or receive a reply after 1 month, after all i saw the ugly side of Singapore's largest hospital yesterday,i hope that you can still practice some ethics.
Thank you.

If he's not senile, he must be disconnected from reality. What has his anxiety got to do with anything in terms of efficiency? Read the TS' post to see how a free and "inefficient" (at least, to a first-world fascist) public healthcare system the NHS provides actually beats a paid one run by third-world bureaucrats.Originally posted by ndmmxiaomayi:I wouldn't say that the chap who received multi-millions dollars as his salary senile. He is just worried. If anybody in your family gets stricken with an illness and is not treated immediately, you will say "I'm not given first-class treatment."
And pretty much true. I curse and swear at TTSH very frequently for taking a freaking long time to see just a patient.
Anxiety has nothing to do with efficiency, but when one can't think properly, nothing is ever right. And things sprouted in the heat of the moment are never the true words. For one, I did the same things as him.Originally posted by walesa:If he's not senile, he must be disconnected from reality. What has his anxiety got to do with anything in terms of efficiency? For the record, that thug who earns a million-dollar paycheck did not bark when he was in the UK. His comments about the "inefficient" NHS only surfaced after his wife had returned to his utopian regime.Originally posted by ndmmxiaomayi:Anxiety has nothing to do with efficiency, but when one can't think properly, nothing is ever right. agree, the waiting time is nigtmarish long in most of the so-called 'structured' hospitals. it makes a patient all the more sick!Originally posted by maurizio13:Was there on the 7th of May. Well, all I can say is we're SCREWED in areas such as public services in healthcare, so long as our government is not replaced...Well said man, yeah its saddening to see the healthcare of the country in such a pathetic state, same for polyclinics i think, they just love referring you to hospitals.
Their 'efficiency' is only from their lips, and in their prompt collection of Taxes...
Rolling Eyes
Well, what else would you expect of a "special" regime whose selective benchmarking would probably tell them you should wait that long considering the fees you're paying is a fraction of what you'd otherwise pay at the A&E of a private hospital?Originally posted by ShutterBug:It seems any kind of government healthcare services, are all Wait Centric!
Such poor service standards and they have the bloody cheek to increase charges!!!
Accident & Emergency shouldn't make people wait! Otherwise, they shoudl call it A & W - Accident and Wait!!!
They farking never change or improve - years ago also similar thread on A&E waiting issue!

In my opinion, yes. Though it will not deter all.Originally posted by maurizio13:Raising charges is macham like ERP, the higher you raise the charges, the less the sick will go to the hospital. Hehehe....
Keep up the good work our beloved regime, you have a good strategy of maintaining efficiency in the healthcare service.
