Three years ago, one TV anchor from ChannelNewsAsia was jailed for indecent assault. Now he is back with CNN-IBN.
Here's a
disturbing blog entry dating back almost a year ago. Wonder if there is any truth in it.
I was most intrigued by the words "pissed off the powers that be at the media company (they're all owned by the same government's-investment-arm company) where he was, and to the extent that they not just wanted him out, but wanted him discredited". The author goes on to say that there was "no rape, and in fact there was no molestation either, insofar (sorry!) as touching-without-consent is concerned". According to him, Shankar's mistake was in "having admitted anything at all. He should've known they'd go after him with long knives, and the law in Singapore is peculiarly biased very heavily towards women, so much so that one can, actually, accuse a man of molestation even if he has done nothing - and one can be believed by the judge".
