Instead Singapore goverment is attracting foreign talents i.e. PRCs, Expats and convert them to permenant resident (PRs). Hoping that they will convert their citizenship to Singaporean when they realize how wonderful Singapore are. hmmm....
The foreigners here already realize how wonderful it is here.. have to feed very expensive and easily corrupted government - you think they wanna stay and give their own citizenship of their own large and freer country???Originally posted by WHATODO:Should Singapore allow dual citizenship? Thats why we are still here.
Let's be very practical about this whole migration thing.
Firstly, very smart talents [b]do not want to be permanent here. Period.
Secondly, Singapore is a springboard for people from China and India to Australia, USA and UK. Many of my China colleagues used this method to migrate elsewhere. They became citizens, bought HDB houses, make a substantial profit from it - and left.
"Thanks, but no thanks, Singapore!
A Singapore passport is recognised because our society is over-controlled, over-structured.
Singaporeans are therefore considered tame. Will not cause trouble like fighting for their personal freedom, over national issues or even human rights and press freedom.
You carry a protest banner - you go to jail!
Thirdly, we are not getting the best talents.
Only, the should-have-retired-older-talents: yes, plenty of them here !
Younger innovative talents: few!
Lastly, PRs can see for themselves : Singapore is NOT the best place to retire. There is nothing to do here. Except loosing your pants at the IR casinos or Singapore Turf Club.
Somemore, with 7 million people squeezed into this island, it will be like HELL living in here :
Why would any sane smart fellow want to stay here when back home their countries are now improving economically and politically.
When made enough money, these foreigners will go back home to climb mountains, ride a horse, and row a boat down the rivers, grow a garden ............ etc.
Dual citizenship will not work to Singapore's advantage.
If that happens it will be a net loss of people, and a serious brain drain.

Would like to add..... if money wasn't a problem.... I would still keep my S'pore citizenship but stay away from S'pore as long as i could...... like to live in a less crowded and 'greener' place...... with great outdoors living.
But since i didn't listen to my mother and study hard..... guess I'm struck here for good.....![]()

No, not really.Originally posted by CannotTahan:The grass is always greener on the other side.
I understand that the grass on the other side is NOT always greener..... but u have to understand that i'm saying "If Money Is Not A Problem"......Originally posted by CannotTahan:The grass is always greener on the other side.

S'pore will always be my HOME..... even thought it have a few problem i really dislike, and no.... got nothing to do with GOVT or PAP..... but Open Space and Nature. I would like to live in a country with vast open space that one could live in without seeing another person for a few days..... places with natural wonder that all would want to see...... I'm quite fed-up with all those 'man-made wonder' the Govt is building..... cutting down forest to build more expressways...... etc.
At least these are the reason i would want to live away from S'pore..... if $$$$ is no problem of course![]()

Not one place..... move around as my mood suits me. Few mths here..... few mths there..... come back to S'pore every once in awhile....... Like I said, S'pore will always be my HOME. But I wish to see more of the WORLD before I get too old. Being in my early 30s already limits the time i still have...... Never Kena TOTO being num 1 problem....Originally posted by CannotTahan:assume you earn a few million S$ per yr like our ministers, where will you choose to live?
