F1 profits to go to Govt

The only reason for hosting F1 is for the revenue. Motoring is an elite sport that benefits few, damages the environment and disrupts traffic and other commercial activity around the area.
OBS is convinced that it will be profitable. Since the government has to put in 60% of the costs of hosting the event, we the taxpayer should get the profits. If there is a loss, it is also the taxpayer's investment that has been lost. I fail to see how OBS can afford to pay back the 60% investment by the government. In that event, kill the F1 after 5 years. -
I will be surprised if he can even host more than one. The question is whether there's enough tourist revenue from this. Any profit above 50 million (from F1 race) will flow into the govt's funds to help sustain future F1 races...
And if there are loses, the organiser will bear the full cost.

F1 is a business deal, nothing more.
Any responsible businessman will sniff out the best deals to make money. Our govt is no different. The only disappointment is we decided on opening our borders now, when we passed up the opportunity years ago, because of the decision of ONE MAN.
The decision to host F1 will definitely rake in more revenue for our govt as the revenue will be pumped into GLC corporations like Temasek to make more investments and acquisitions that in turn produces returns for the overall economy; this indirect approach will be the long term benefit of F1 rather than the direct earnings from ticketing and sales.
The problem will be how to bridge the earnings to benefit the people, rather than just Singapore Inc. At this moment, that's the way the country is being run.
Hopefully, storekeepers and retailers get to benefit theorugh increased sales for the duration of the F1 and not a repeat of the IMF slump period at Marina-Suntec. -

I only accept it when people give good reasons and state facts - I will not accept scumbag who has real serious bad attitude problem coming to act as if he has every right to humiliate people and oppose people stating facts. if you can't accept the facts here, go get lost. With road diversions and closures, businesses in the Marina area will be adversely affected.
