Wow,this thread got so many viewers,i am surprised man........Actually,i also dont like to curse ppl to death.But this Lee Kuan Yew.......He never seem to give up.One thing i dont understand,why he is so keen to build up his "Lee Empire" n dont retired.
He is not lack of money,i mean he is rich,why he is still want to pursue those "meaningless power"?If i am rich,i will distribute some of my wealth to poor ppl n hence earn respect from them n have a sense of satisfaction.But Lou Lee and his son "Ah Loong" only keen in building up their family wealth n turn this country into a dictatorial country n neglect the suffering of their countrymen,i mean what the hell is this????
Why Lee Kuan Yew dont give up his ministerial post n enjoy his retirement n earn abit of respect from his own ppl(although its abit late),i really dont understand. -

Don't think he can just retire, during his political career, he made alot of enemies (whether domestic or foreign). You think he can just retire like that.

There's quite a simple explanation to that, actually. "Special" people like him have acquired a skill you and I don't possess - he has probably mastered the art of transporting his wealth in this lifetime to the afterlife. But seriously, we cannot deny that he has contributed a lot to the current Singapore. He's not a dictator, and it is not like he does nothing but enjoy his life of power. I believe he has seriously worked hard to make Singapore what it is today.
His power is a result of his hard work and tenacity. Not everyone can do that. In this sense, I sincerely give him my respect.
Sure... Some policies are bad, and some are good. However, we cannot expect everyone to be a saint with totally no mistakes. The thing I don't like about him is that he is too strong headed and a bit too much of a male chauvinist. But bear in mind he's of a few generations before. Mindsets then and now are very different. We cannot expect an old man to change his mindset as quickly as us younger people. -
