Conscientious objectors--http://www.singaporedemocrat.org/articleaireport2007.html
At least eight conscientious objectors were imprisoned, and 12 others continued to serve their sentences during 2006. All were members of the banned Jehovah's Witnesses religious group. There were no moves towards offering an alternative to military service.
Cannot carry arms is 7th day Adventist lah. Jehovah's Witness cannot salute the state flag and therefore, cannot pledge allegiance to the SAF. So here comes DB..........Originally posted by allentyb:![]()

I realised your good intentions of saving bandwidth and disk space, but if you want to be understood, please make an effort to learn good English. By cutting and pasting a whole lot of crap, then making 3-5 words sentences hardly puts forth any point.
A good way to learn English is to read more Straits Time newspaper. Oops. Bad idea!! You are better off reading reuters, BBC and AFP on the net.
whatever, i just know of their existence, and between, their uniform in DB is white tee and blue shortOriginally posted by Rock^Star:Cannot carry arms is 7th day Adventist lah. I think they do not have a choice in it, between god and country, they chose god.Originally posted by LazerLordz:Liberal as I may be, but I still think that if you want to live here, you jolly well contribute to the security of the nation.
You always have a choice to keng in NS. It's still your own perogative.
True, but do note that they serve 3 years in DB, but not as regular detainees.Originally posted by maurizio13:I think they do not have a choice in it, between god and country, they chose god.
I think we should respect them for their beliefs and not persecute them by throwing them in detention barracks.
Can't really treat them as regular detainees now can we? I think thats kinda harsh. Its like making thier religon a crime.Originally posted by LazerLordz:True, but do note that they serve 3 years in DB, but not as regular detainees.
Other Christian sects have no problem with serving the nation.

Then again, who are we to question their faith. If they have something somewhere in thier faith that says cannot serve, then give them an alternative . They already lose substiantial personal freedom in those 3 years.
Actually I don't care as long as the stangling goes own stricly within the cult, and doesn't involve anyone outside it.Originally posted by the Bear:well, do we let the Cult of Kali go around strangling people?
