Why not consider PRC maids for SGP?

Then why aren't we seeing PRC maids here. Language will not be a problem, food will not be a problem, imagine the maid making dumplings and traditional chinese cuisines for her singapore chinese employers.
What's more, she can even provide a chinese speaking environment for the little ones at home, seeing that more and more kids are not so proficient in spoken and written mandarin nowadays.
I believe there are more pros than cons in this matter. Maybe someone should bring this up to the MIWs.....or maybe those leeporters can write about it in their papers. Just don't come and approach me.....
If said this way, all the other countries' woman should become maids...

I came across alot of young tall n pretty PRC woman in California, they don't speak a word of English, they held some talented and skill Visa and flew between NY and LA. (my chinese boss got 2 )
So these are competition that SG woman will have to content with. If you are local woman I suggest you pick up some slack to upgrade character, looks etc.
If you are already married continue to improve oneself to maintain your honey. Don't neglect the power of attraction even if you are married for 20 years. -

because those that got money to hire maids are chinese and their children of course also take chinese in school. so the PRC maids can influence the children to use chinese more frequently -

I have to agree to this statement. Those from the rural areas do not speak 'zhengque' Mandarin. Aren't you feeling a bit inferior about your capability to hold on to your man? If you are up to standard would you be afraid of the PRC women stealing your man no matter how 'yin' they act. Ultimately it's up to you. So don't just push the blame onto the other party. -

I'd be more comfortable if my maid is from PRC than from Indonesia or Philippines. Singapore should have a variety of sources of maids, so that we have Chinese, Bahasa and English-speaking ones to choose from according to our language environment at home.
Unfortunately, I think some policy makers habour prejudice against Chinese labour. That's why Chinese maids are kept out. -

Chinses maids are being kept out by SG cauz of our cultural difference for most of these PRC ppls are very $ minded and their aim is to make big buck,in addition,we cant different them if they wear our same attire.that make our police's job very tough -

Ummm ...... you dont know much about China ........... let alone Shanghai. Men in shanghai are famous (among the 1.6 billion population) for doing housework and they are very proud to have wives who are well groomed from top to toe (like those siu-lai-lai - read this in cantonese). Last Sunday, I watched a program on CCTV about the marriage of a Taiwanese lady and a Shanghainese man. The taiwanese lady was soooo good in housework whenever she returns to her mum's place in Taiwan but she's just the opposite whenever she lands in shanghai while her honey hubby does all the housework. Anyway, I dare say 99% of PRC ladies are dying to leave the country. Most of them ended up as prostitute (maybe because of their very humble background) no matter how great their dignity and moral is. (I've even seen them in Dubai and of course their targets are those rich Arabs from Dubai, A-Dhabi, Bahrain etc). The kind of environment they are in just does not allow them to place dignity and morality right on top of everything. You may say they are unwilling prostitutes but at the end of the day, if they could bring in money for a better life, build a house, provide education for their siblings or children or medical assistance for their loved ones, they are more than willing to do that. This is human nature and basically, Maslow's theory applies. True blue Singaporeans will never want to exchange this list by being a prostitute. By comparison, maybe we are more individualistic and selfish. When they return home with all these 'pride' and 'glory', they will try to erase all those ugly history from their minds and souls.
Those who are willing to be maids are usually very low in their background. They are illiterate and they definitely cannot speak the standard Putonghua at a reasonable level. I'd rather watch more PRC tv serials and this had helped my PTH tremendously in terms of pronunciation and vocabulary. I dont think it's advisable to rely on them to communicate with your toddlers.
Honestly, the standard of our spoken English and PTH are appalling once we step out of the SG boundary. If you know the boiling frog parody, we accept the fluency of our kind of spoken English and PTH w/o realizing that we are still far away from the standard way of speaking despite the fact that these two languages have been an official languages for so many donkey years. We definitely need to brush up on this.
