I don't think any other countries are paying their ministers millions... So, we should have maids from multi nation liao lor...Originally posted by jasonsamster:I remember a certain old man once said that, if the ministers are not paid millions of dollars, our women will need to work as maids. So by the same logic, therefore, any other country where the ministers are not paid around S$2m per yr, they should send their women off to work as maids right?
Then why aren't we seeing PRC maids here. Language will not be a problem, food will not be a problem, imagine the maid making dumplings and traditional chinese cuisines for her singapore chinese employers.
What's more, she can even provide a chinese speaking environment for the little ones at home, seeing that more and more kids are not so proficient in spoken and written mandarin nowadays.
I believe there are more pros than cons in this matter. Maybe someone should bring this up to the MIWs.....or maybe those leeporters can write about it in their papers. Just don't come and approach me.....
you find all kinds of women to make these world.Originally posted by morbid4ever:Prc women are a danger for local woman like me....they steal local women's boyfren or hubby

Do u know what quality r these maids?Originally posted by jasonsamster:![]()
because those that got money to hire maids are chinese and their children of course also take chinese in school. so the PRC maids can influence the children to use chinese more frequently

I have to agree to this statement. Those from the rural areas do not speak 'zhengque' Mandarin. Moreoever though they speak 'Mandarin' they may not be that literate in writing.Originally posted by foomwee88:They r mostly from villages and speak dialects and simple chinese only,do we want them to teach our children

sure?Originally posted by foomwee88:My children can speak and write chinese 100 times better than them!!!
My elder son and youngest daughter learned and scored A in higher chinses in GCE A level .My second son scores only B in "o" level, whichever it is,they r 100 times betten than these PRC maids in Chinese speaking and writing.Originally posted by Ito_^:sure?![]()
R u sure????for labourers except maids, our stupid gov welcoming them with open arms and legs.Originally posted by dracky:I'd be more comfortable if my maid is from PRC than from Indonesia or Philippines. Singapore should have a variety of sources of maids, so that we have Chinese, Bahasa and English-speaking ones to choose from according to our language environment at home.
Unfortunately, I think some policy makers habour prejudice against Chinese labour. That's why Chinese maids are kept out.

Correct. Some one should ask that old man how come we never see women folks from US, Japan, Switzerland, etc, etc becoming maids in other countries or Singapore.Originally posted by caleb_chiang:I don't think any other countries are paying their ministers millions... If said this way, all the other countries' woman should become maids...![]()

Ummm ...... you dont know much about China ........... let alone Shanghai. Men in shanghai are famous (among the 1.6 billion population) for doing housework and they are very proud to have wives who are well groomed from top to toe (like those siu-lai-lai - read this in cantonese). Last Sunday, I watched a program on CCTV about the marriage of a Taiwanese lady and a Shanghainese man. The taiwanese lady was soooo good in housework whenever she returns to her mum's place in Taiwan but she's just the opposite whenever she lands in shanghai while her honey hubby does all the housework. I'll be laughing my head off if anyone in SG has a maid from Shanghai.Originally posted by 02tonyl:The ones from China that want to be maids are those from remote village with lesser hygiene, illiterate, you want those people to be your maids ?? if they are illiterate, what can they teach your kids ?? And for the ones that with good hygiene, high education are the ones from Shanghai, Beijing, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, and you think those people will come over to Singapore just to be your maids ?? It would be a miracle if you can even find a shanghainese maid. Imagine introducing the maid to your neighbour or relatives "My maid is from Shanghai" LOL
