You may not need the $$$ GST Offset package, do spare a thought for others who need $$$ and this may come in time for some people. For eg, my ex neighbour, a cleaner, just got news that she will lose her job as the company is closing down end of this month. She said she is glad that at least there is some cash for her from the offset package. If you donÂ’t need the $$$ then donÂ’t sign up to accept. -

Seems very obvious without doubt that they serve the nation with much arrogance. Pride goes before a fall! They have more than once told Singaporeans donÂ’t depend on the govt. This is like slapping their own face. They have planned things in their agenda for the nation, and on the other hand asked the people donÂ’t depend on them. Unfortunately, very few people take it that it is our money that they are giving us. This insincerity of giving the full amount entitlement really put people off. The GST offset package is just another gimmick for them to gain favour from the public. As usual, very good in giving sweets to the “children”! -

Readership in sgforums is probably at most, in the hundreds. If you write to ST, it's in the hundreds of thousands. Of course, there's no guarantee that your letter will be published. However, does it cost you anything to try? No harm at all. You don't try, you won't know. Unless you have already condemned yourself by saying "it will never be published". If your letter is unsuccessful in ST, then try TNP.
If not, I wouldn't be wrong to label your posts here as whinings.

If you do not want to write ST to fulfill your intention of informing the masses, so be it. It's not like you were offended by some poor service in some restaurant. This GST cork-up could have affected thousands of other Singaporeans. Well anyway, there will be others who will write in.
As for you crying foul of my "whinings" in other posts, well, they are mostly about politics. Like I questioned in the other thread, have you noticed the style of letters published in ST forums? If ST forum is receptive to politically sensitive letters, I sure would like to contribute one.
Sometimes as human beings, we tend to let emotions get the better of us....and it affects our judgement. My previous 2 posts to you were simply constructive suggestions, albeit perhaps I shouldn't have used a strong word like "whinings". If you cannot see beyond that, then I can't help it either. -
