democracy and freedom of speech lead to better life?
can India,Indonesia,Phillipnes,Thailand give me any proof?
They are even "jealous" of sick people going to class C wards while they have no qualms taking millions in public money every year (the chief dictator's family take approx S$10million)....Originally posted by http://www.channelnewsasia.com/stories/singaporelocalnews/view/276927/1/.htmlThe minister had said in April that means testing - to ensure that subsidies go to those who need it most - is necessary to prevent abuse of public health services by the well-off.
Oh man.......it's not a matter of jealousy. Are you sure? Freedom of speech must come with responsibility.Originally posted by AndrewPKYap:They are even jealous of sick people going to class C wards while they have no qualms taking millions in public money every year (the chief dictator's family take approx S$10million)....
wake up people... you fall sick and you want to save money by going to class C wards... those that take millions in public money are jealous of you doing that!
It is right for them to take public money for even more luxuries but sick people cannot go to class C wards to save money...
See how freedom of speech can point out and hopefully stop such atrocities in the newspapers you read everyday instead of having to read about it in the internet forum.
Oh OK... let me explain...Originally posted by Rock^Star:Oh man.......it's not a matter of jealousy. Are you sure? Freedom of speech must come with responsibility.
Well, I see the word "jealousy" differentlyOriginally posted by AndrewPKYap:Oh OK... let me explain...
The feelings might not be "explicit" but the effect is the same...
Isn't it as good as they are "jealous" in a manner of speaking?
They look at the statistics and they see some people that they think can afford class B wards, are going to class C wards. Or class A wards going to class B wards.
They are not "happy"; they are "jealous"; they have to do something about it!
Why don't the get "not happy", "jealous" with themselves for taking millions on top of millions of public funds that could have gone to more hospital beds?
It is wrong for sick people to worry and try to spend less money for hospitalizations but it is right for them to live in even more luxury using public money???
These are sick people. Generally, nobody goes to hospital for the fun of it.
Do you know that you can stay in hospital and get paid for it as research subjects. Yet, I keep getting emails to ask me to participate. Why? People just do not want to go to hospitals even if they are paid for it!
Pointless, maybe... but I think what he wants to do is , like I said before...Originally posted by the Bear:you are drifting..
what is the point of the 'message of defiance' ?
a publicity stunt?
a ploy to wring some sympathy from the public?
a cynical plot to further desensitise the people to anything political?
note what i quoted from WB Yeats.. that is the whole point i am trying to make.. pointless publicity stunts just turns people's hearts to stone so much so that when a true, worthy and good fight is to be fought, no one cares anymore as the well of public sympathy has been squandered by CSJ on his useless and pointless stroking of his own ego...
Like I said he is not interested in Singaporeans' opinions.Originally posted by the Bear:that's your opinion..
however, have you asked people around?
they see him as a clown.. the Lees have face skin which can be bio-engineered to work as armour so you think they will be embarassed?
the world leaders don't care about 'embarassment' because hey.. look at the skeletons in their closets they themselves have...
so, don't be hoodwinked.. LKY knows the score.. he says that either to goad the shameful CSJ into more (works into LKY's hands) which desensitises the people even more..
either that or the cynical may view it in a more insidious way and CSJ is a mole damaging the opposition, given the go-ahead to cause more damage and desensitise the people even more...
whatever it is, CSJ is doing a disservice to the people of Singapore..
his supposed martyrdom is just a disgrace to the people who know...
and you should know better too...
i won't repeat my mantra to you about enemies.. because one of these days, you will find that out yourself..

Food on the table is more important to Singaporeans than fighting for democracy.Originally posted by the Bear:you are drifting..

Is it really an argument? I see all threads like this more as a discussion where views are exchanged.Originally posted by LazerLordz:Common sense will tell you that there will always be diverse views.
Can't we for once respect that? Or does it take a bloody genius to understand that there are different ways to achieve your goal, or to skin a damned kitty?
Let the argument rest lah.![]()
His intentions are open to speculation. But the effects are tangilble and factual. He has achieved more awareness in the international community than all opposition parties put together. A fact that cannot be ignored.Originally posted by the Bear:what is the point of the 'message of defiance' ?

Open, aren't non-violent acts of defiances what Martin Kuther King and M. Ghandi did? Even if he isn't on the same level as these two great men were, you cannot deny that he is emulating these men or at least attepmting to do so. The desensitization is done by the ruling party as they have the media power to portray to the public whichever side they want to.
