They look at the statistics and they see some people that they think can afford class B wards, are going to class C wards. Or class A wards going to class B wards.
They are not "happy"; they are "jealous"; they have to do something about it!
Why don't they get "not happy", "jealous" with themselves for taking millions on top of millions of public funds that could have gone to more hospital beds?
It is wrong for sick people to worry and try to spend less money for hospitalizations but it is right for them to live in even more luxury using public money???
These are sick people. Generally, nobody goes to hospital for the fun of it.
Do you know that you can stay in hospital and get paid for it as research subjects. Yet, I keep getting emails to ask me to participate. Why? People just do not want to go to hospitals even if they are paid for it! -

Anyway, I feel that the govt's intentions are justified but the means are not. They want to prevent abuse of the system......but like you said, they could have spent their millions on more beds or perhaps a new hospital?
Khaw has not been doing his job well but has been portrayed by the media as competent and efficient. Maybe he should go back to private practice and continue doing operations. His brain should go under the knife for a start. -

1. Embarrass the dictators in front of their peers in the international stage.
2. Get support from the international community to sanction Singapore like they did South Africa's Apartheid regime.
In a sense, he probably thinks that Singaporeans are too brain-washed and/or lack the intellectual capability and so appealing to Singaporeans is a waste of time.
After the CSJ engineered EU parliamentarians fiasco, a whole generation of EU leaders will have very bad opinion of the Singapore dictators.
You can imagine them drinking coffee at Starbucks in Brussels going... Singapore? What a third rate country run by a brutal dictatorship. -
To paraphrase LKY: "People will come to see how CSJ and his antics were right and effective..."

the world leaders don't care about 'embarassment' because hey.. look at the skeletons in their closets they themselves have...

He even got Reuters on his side. Why did Reuters have to publish such a damaging picture on the brutality of Singapore's regime?

I am just pointing out to you that while you are probably right that many in Singapore think him a clown... and even dangerous... he is nevertheless making an impact (OK maybe a small impact) in the international arena...

I don't think Chee is trying to garner any sympathy nor is he trying to pull off some PR stunt.
It is very simple and clear to me that Chee, in his bid to fulfill his ideologies and "patriotism" to serve Singaporeans, has misunderstood the plot about what we want.
Human species often think that what one wants is often what others want too, is that not? Problem is, how right is one's judgement and ability to gauge the intent of the masses?
CSJ may not be strumming the right chord here. -
Common sense will tell you that there will always be diverse views.
Can't we for once respect that? Or does it take a bloody genius to understand that there are different ways to achieve your goal, or to skin a damned kitty?

I realise alot of Singaporeans like to "act handsome". Anyone whose actions aren't "handsome" are auto-branded 'clowns' Seldom can people look past their own bias, from a 3rd person perspective, to see deeper and farther. We lack a sense of perspective in Singapore... we ..seriously.. lack it.

Open, aren't non-violent acts of defiances what Martin Kuther King and M. Ghandi did? Even if he isn't on the same level as these two great men were, you cannot deny that he is emulating these men or at least attepmting to do so. The desensitization is done by the ruling party as they have the media power to portray to the public whichever side they want to. -
