Too bad. Either you live and respect the electoral processes of the nation, or you can go to jail for inciting unrest.Originally posted by ChoCoChips:pap wun recognise the result lo.
den wan re-election again and again.
We will take out all the flies in ISD!!!!2 c PAP dog when they will die!!!Originally posted by LazerLordz:Too bad. Either you live and respect the electoral processes of the nation, or you can go to jail for inciting unrest.
exactly.Originally posted by bigmouthjoe:We wouldn't know if we didn't try. PAP used to be an ''opposition" party too?
In the near future, it is unlikely any opposition will win the battle and form a new government. To begin with, the oppositions had not even been able to field enough candidates to contest in all constituencies.Originally posted by wului99:Just wondering if PAP lost the GE and opposition won the battle, will we be living any better than before? Will it be good or worse? Post yr comments here.
Hey this is the first post from you that I actually agree upon.Originally posted by sgdiehard:In the near future, it is unlikely any opposition will win the battle and form a new government. The other scenario would be a break in PAP, and the breakaway party form a coalition government with the current oppositions. Knowing how coalition government works in other countries, I foresee some chaos politically, leading to some impact on the economy, But, Singapore will not collapse. If all the political parties in the coalition work together, then the future of singapore remains bright or in fact brighter. I would be glad to endure such a transition. If they fight for greater shares of power, I will tell my children to consider migrating, even Taiwan would a better place.
The worse scenario is when PAP lost all the seats, or if they won all the seats, with no opposition in the parliament. Full power with no check and balance will lead to corruption and abuses. When that happens, the society will be divided into those who have and those who don't. For those who don't, we will be at the government's mercy, our lives would be "chi bu bao, er bu shi".
What remains unchanged, is that there will be as many people who complain about the government as there are now, just a change of position.
What will the day be if opposition takes over Singapore?Monday! jk
In your example quoted, it would mean an total change in the government, however what if the presence of the opposition is increased instead of a total replacement of the government?Originally posted by nonameguy:This reminds me of the England football team. When Sven-Goran Eriksson was in charge, everyone wanted him out after a while because he was too negative, too unwilling to bench his star players, wasting England's golden generation etc. Then he goes and gets replaced by Steve McClaren and after a while people wanted Eriksson back.
That unfortunetely would be the most likely outcome if the PAP leaves. People complain about the PAP being too autocratic, too greddy, but will things be any different if some other government is in charge?
I am quite sure that there will be more opposition members being voted in for the next GE especially from the WP because firstly the fear factor among the voters is almost gone & secondly the huge ministers salaries have been widely publicised locally & internationally so much so that the uncles & aunties now know everything.Originally posted by bigmouthjoe:In your example quoted, it would mean an total change in the government, however what if the presence of the opposition is increased instead of a total replacement of the government?
No party can last as u can see former President Suharto kena forced to give up his presidency by the lacck of support of the army n his minsiter.Originally posted by LazerLordz:Should that ever happen, anyone who suggests or attempts a coup should be arrested for treason. We are a democratic republic, like it or not, and we must always respect the process of democracy.
Let's not fall into the trap of thinking that the statutory boards, agencies and Civil Service will collapse should there be a change of ruling party. Everyone still wants to work, and policies will still be made. The only difference is the vision of the ruling party. This will influence the importance of certain industries and sectors.
It is childish, reckless and provocative to spread fear that Singapore will collapse should the PAP lose power.
1) 20 years difficult. Coz, this 60% of votes(in general) are PAP's loyal supporters, no matter what unhappiness PAP cause.Originally posted by Xephone_xenon:Nope.
But i think in about 20years time they might be able to win over 1/4 of sg.
PAP now winning by 60%+ nia leh.
its not 60% of population dude, its just 60% of the total votes casts.Originally posted by Xephone_xenon:Nope.

Best question of the dayOriginally posted by fire & ice:would any of you stand for election for a better singapore then?
