The 2nd picture that depict the Indo military police holding hands beside the decapitated head is a powerful picture that shows people at the ground level the culture and its people mind set as to how far people are willing to go to avenge their hate.
Similarly, 911 incident was not something out from a broadway production that we watch from TV and forget. -
The photos are not Indonesian J.I. members, but common folks with a violent streak that reflect the typical merciless violent mentality of the Indonesians, and their macabre manner in toying with the deceased.
This violent streak seems to be a typical characteristic of the Indonesian ethnic Malays in general, and represented across the entire Indonesian archipelago.
The violent streak surfaced periodically in times of social or economic stresses, violence between ethnic groups will breakout - with the Indonesian Chinese population bearing the brunt of the discontentment and frustrations.
This was seen in the violence and atrocities committed against the Indonesian Chinese in Jakarta - over the last three decades - the most recent being the downfall of President Suharto.
They will even attack their own ethnic group, when the conflict becomes religious in nature and not racial - as had happened in the Moloccus, and also in Indoneisan Kalimantan.
Those guys in the photos are religious fanatics on a murderous rampage, and two were recently tried in Jakarta for beheading two school girls who were from the Indonesian Christian community.
During Indonesian President Sukarno's Confrontation over the formation of Malaysia, one group of Indonesian paratroopers had parachuted into the Johor State, and a hunt was initiated by Singapore's 1SIR.
Unfortunately, one section of a Platoon was ambushed while they rested, and their bodies were mutiliated.
This riled up the remaining 1SIR batalion, who hunted the Indonesian parachutists, leaving no survivors, and returned the compliments to them. -

Our NSF consists mainly of ''boy-soldiers'' until they mature after many years in their NSF ''tour of duty'' - even then, we remain a citizen army, not a professional army of Career Soldiers.
We must hone our mind and stiffen our spirit to the realities of our environment so as to be psychologically prepared when violent burst out on us.
What kind of leadership will the SAF have when NSF leadership squirm at the sight of their troops being disembowelled by shrapnels, or missing soldiers found headless ?
Violence beget violence, but it takes wisdom in preparation to know the forces that are around us, and be prepared psychologically, physically, and spiritually. -
Our violence will be switched on if somebody ever do that to us.

er.........it was 2 SIR......they were patrolling the jungle at Kota Tinggi......then they saw a nice river.....and all jumped in for a swim. Just then, the Indonesian paras turned up and shot the lot........then they cut off the 2SIR soldier's penis' and shaft them into the mouths of the dead soldiers.
The bodies were recovered and brought to Holland road camp for washing and last rites.......
Instructions were then given that no Indonesian prisoners were to be taken alive.......... -

You maybe right... as 1SIR and 2SIR were rotated for duty between Peninsular Malaysia and East Malaysia.
The Indonesian paratroopers had landed at Labis in Johor; and the Singapore trooper fell asleep when he was supposed to be on guard - while the rest took a break. The rest was history.
Moral: never sleep when on guard duty. -
