Global Warming - an issue more threatening than terrorism in the world we live in today.Originally posted by the Bear:Click here => The Most Terrifying Video You'll Ever See
There is no gore, not even Al Gore. There is no murder, there is no mayhem, there is just one man at a whiteboard.
It's long, but listen to him.
Use the tools he shows you. Apply it to the decisions in your life. Apply it to the politics Speaker's Corner is infamous for.
But most of all, we can do something. And we have to be responsible.
We are all living in the Age of Consequence.
Be well everyone.

Human beings by nature are reactive, not proactive.Originally posted by ShutterBug:Personally, I think that Global Warming is a serious future problem which many around the world still take lightly. Why? Because it is NOT something that is regarded by many as Clear & Present Danger.
The problem with people is that they largely only react to something as tangible as a Tsunami, or a massive Earthquake or Hurricane. And the deadly thing about Global Warming, is that it is very slow and gradual - much like putting a live frog in a pot and turning up the heat every so slightly till it gets boiled alive without knowing it.
Global Warming is no joke. It can permanently alter our weather systems, sea level rises and geogrphy changes permanently. It will royally screw up the nature of things on Earth and catastrophes will wreak havoc on lives and World Economies.
But herein lies the big question; What can we do? Yes indeed, what the hell can we do?
Do you people seriously think, that China with the largest population on Earth will be concerned about Global Warming? I think not...
Already the weather in Singapore has become abnormal; rain and storms almost everyday from March into June/July?
I wonder where will Shenton Way be if the sea level rose 20 feet?

Hmmm.. interesting, furless polar bear ><
hmmm... I can consider myself as pro environmentalist but not an extreme one... As wat the start of video states it is "probably", "maybe" and blah. It maybe end of the world, but I truly believe tat as the situation gets worse, the government around the world will be more united to fight global warming. Therefore, I wont link global warming to end of the world and my loves ones... I will link reducing global warming as one of the responsibility of inhabitant on earth.Originally posted by the Bear:frankly, if that's all the problems, i won't care...
the problem is that it may be the end of the world as we know it...
do yourself and your loved ones a favour.. stop being so flippant, extend your attention span and listen to the guy in the video..
even if you do not want to live on, think of your loved ones...
In my opinion, Singapore could/should have begun cessation of the use of plastic bags about 10 years ago, instead of just now....and starting off in spurts of funny One Day Affairs.Originally posted by elindra:But are Singaporeans ready for conservation
I mean just look at "Bring your own bag day"

well super monsoon may not come. thats just wild speculations. if its inverted seasons, then nothing great. just raina nd sun at different periods.Originally posted by ShutterBug:Right now, if you are in the east or central of Singapore, look out your window and you can see Global Warming has taken away the sun, right in the middle of June..!
Our weathermen calls it Extended Monsoon, I call it a fancy alternative name for Global Warming...
If it is wet now, maybe it will be hot and humid come October to December? Or worse; Super Monsoon from October onwards - floods, fallen trees clogging highways, and disrupting businesses as well as MRT schedules.
And this is just the "skin" of what Global Warming will bring about in decades to come....!![]()
It is dangerous to apply complacency on Mother Nature...Originally posted by hisoka:well super monsoon may not come. thats just wild speculations. if its inverted seasons, then nothing great. just raina nd sun at different periods.
and i for one is glad the sun is rested more in the middle of june.
global warming? i admit it's a problem, but i still ahve doubts about pple claiming end of the world, apocalypse, etc.
complacency should be avoided yes, but then at the same time, one shouldn't over-react.Originally posted by ShutterBug:It is dangerous to apply complacency on Mother Nature...
I recommend you recall the Tsunami that happened in 2002 - NO ONE expected a Tsunami in this region...hence many lives got washed out...
To top things off, are you people aware that the Earthquake Epicentre is moving closer to us across Sumatra???
Do you all know that buildings here have already begun to sway ever so slightly by its creeping progress closer?
I think you must have missed the report on serious flooding in Australia last week, which was brought on by an unusually heavy and unexpected storm.Originally posted by hisoka:complacency should be avoided yes, but then at the same time, one shouldn't over-react.
not advocating not doing anything, but saying that those prediction of doomsday or even that super monsoon without any real backing or hints of it coming true should be avoided?
