First things first, call for all GLCs(temasek, GIC etc.) that has access to funds accumulated via CPF or other public funds, to be audited by external independent Auditors, or the very least by the AGO. And the findings made available to the public. EDB being audited for the first time in 46 years is appaling to say the least. They are using public fundsm hence should be made accountable to the public and open to public scrutiny.Originally posted by ShutterBug:It is here, that what little lee-way they allow us, stops.
I believe that there some good numbers of skeletons in their closets, for them to risk allowing such Protests however non-violent they may be.
I'm sure CSJ would agree with me on this...
Whatever skeletons that are dwelling in their closets are not going to be solved and might just backfire on them one of these days. Since they've been trying to hide such problems since time immemorial. It might possibly be safer to put a complete halt to non-violent protests from their point of view. However in the long run it's not going to be pretty. I'm thinking it's not too late to allow that for a change, with great revolution comes great improvement.Originally posted by ShutterBug:It is here, that what little lee-way they allow us, stops.

absolutely agree.Originally posted by ShutterBug:Personally, at the rate they are going, I'll give it to them that they will win the next GE with lower percentages...
but after that, it is going to hit rock bottom IF they don't change their ways and be more People Centric then Self-Centered...
You can all see, how good they are in absolving themselves from the liability and responsibility of caring for the People....
Unfortunately, their high intelligents are only used for their own ends... otherwise, the character and ambience of our society would have been better..
People are more likely to greet one another on the streets....
Either that or migrate- then withdraw everything!Originally posted by rane:The only good solution is to vote them out of power!!!
Have you seen those documentaries by NatGeo or Discovery channels?Originally posted by gerrykoh:Either that or migrate- then withdraw everything!
It is our hardearned money & we should be able to take out & enjoy.
Easier said than done though. Once you have roots( family, house, job) in Singapore, inertia to leave the country would escalate especially so when you are older. In light of that, this would leave Singapore with the older and poorer populations...Bleak!!Originally posted by gerrykoh:Either that or migrate- then withdraw everything!

Actually the pitiful elderly person are those who plan to migrate before the age of 62 with their children to other countries, imagine they need toOriginally posted by ShutterBug:Personally, at the rate they are going, I'll give it to them that they will win the next GE with lower percentages...

It's every men/women for himself/herself now. I've been planning to move to Australia(since I'm already here) or England to pursue my veterinary career. As they say the world's your oyster when you're young. Pack your bags and heave a ho, that's what I'd do.Originally posted by Xiaozzhen:I see those old people planning to use their hard earned CPF money in a few years' time when they are 62... "Aiy, I don't have to wash the toilets at the food court and eat bun every lunch when I have my $10,000 CPF money in 3 years' time...."
How miserable they will be when the news are out.
For the younger ones, we change our plans, migrate or vote the govt out.
What will happen to the old and poor?![]()
What do you think? The balanced CPF is just enough for people to take care of their high medical fees when they get adult onset diabetes, high cholesterol, high blood tension, strokes, key knee surgery, cataracts operations and other age related illness.Originally posted by niceguy_123:When they raised the mininum sum in CPF to almost $96,000, my heart already sank.. Becos I am thinking after servicing the 200k HDB loan, by the age of 55 how much still left for me to withdraw?
Then they raised the minimum age to withdraw from 55 to 62, seriously, I am thinking with the little amount of money left, hopefully I can get to spend a little if my weak knees can support.
Now they wanted to raised from 62 to 65.. I am thinking last time 55 still possible hopefully healthy enough to enjoy. Now push back 10 years, I seriously doubt my health at that time will still be strong enough like when I am 55...![]()
I do agree with you. But by the way, things are happening I rather moved on. I read in PM's speech 800 locals migrated to other countries each year.Originally posted by gerrykoh:By the time I am in my 60s, I don't want to work.
I have enough savings & assets. If the cost of living keeps rising, I'll retire to another country.
Now with internet & cheap airfares, it is easy to keep in contact with family.
In fact some of my relatives already migrated.
This alternative is not in tandem to attract higher earners to reside and work in Singapore. The effect will be higher earners are turned away, those with enough will emigrate and only the poor are stuck.Originally posted by CheHyeon:Another alternative to address this would be to channel high income earners to those lower by raising taxes over a certain pay, definitely not a solution but it might present less as a drastic movement than increasing minimum age for CPF payout. What do you guys think?
It's hardly feasible to think about attracting people when you can't even keep your own people from leaving.Originally posted by Xiaozzhen:This alternative is not in tandem to attract higher earners to reside and work in Singapore. I think that since Singapore is not a welfare economy but a workfare economy,Originally posted by CheHyeon:It's hardly feasible to think about attracting people when you can't even keep your own people from leaving.
