Last election- they change the boundary- combine Joo Chiat to M.Parade or something like that, in the end the pple don't have to vote. Like all the government statistics, figures deceive and hide all the problems.
What is does not reveal is probably the pay increases forming this 4-6 % are mostly from the public sector including ministers' million-dollar increases.
If the pay increases are worked out for the private sector alone, most likely there is nothing to crow about. Too many private sector are not paying any salary increases to their employees at all due to bad private sector economy since 1997.
The latter will not be revealed in any statistics of the government as such objective statistics would immediately signal real failures of the private sector economy. -
If the dengue problem gets worse - it will affect the economy through tourism and sick leave for dengue fever/dengue haemorrhagic fever. And best of all , those overseas Singaporean student's opposition parties - sometimes you don't know if one of the student leaders are watchers to track the "troublemakers". Whether they are a myth or not - I cannot confirm.

There were 295 cases of dengue infections this week, bringing the cumulative number of cases this year to 3,216.

The Talented in the Government create and construct buildings that result in easy mosquito breeding, and expect the low wage Singaporeans to keep the environment free from mosquito breeding - OR face severe penalties of a hefty fine or jail or both (no concern if one is a low waged earner).
Such is the talent we have in this Government - build HDB homes in such high density that encourages mosquito breeding. The Government will then entrap the hapless citizens to buy these HDB homes - as urban renewable programs will require the relocation of the entire population into New Towns - (shades of the Emergency Period when entire rural populations were relocated into camps called New Villages). With the Citizens occupying these new homes, the Citizens are suddenly required to maintain the faulty housing designs, and the penalties imposed for mosquito breeding will become anotherr source of revenue for the government - if the faulty designs are not maintained and cause mosquitoes to breed.
This is a no-win situation for Singaporeans - until the next elections, if Singaporeans still remember the events of 2007. -
