I think the reason they kept blowing hot and cold air is because gov does not know what direction to take. Future of PRC looks uncertain, yet he does not want to pis them off. In the past policy towards ROC are kept towards ambiguity, kept both parties guessing. These days LHL probably is changing that direction. It really diminish our creditibilities.

PRC is not stupid to attack TW now or in 5 years time...PRC can wait...they have waited for the last 50 or more. Who know ....perhaps, like you say...PRC bubble market may burst......but than again....PRC may not want to allow TW to enjoy the good life when PRC bubble burst..PRC may just want TW to sink with them too.....
And the US is not stupid to let PRC sink some of it's capital ships ...just to ensure the survival of TW. So think before you say TW is better than Sg.

So who is the naive one?If TW wants to be recognise as a country,it should built up its economy and military might and do away with the joker,clean up their backyard,etc.
Even if it really gain independence,can they substain it.That is the real issue,not gaining point by buying alliance with some unheard small countries here and there only to be brought over by you know who again.By hoping people to be on their side is really wishful thought.
With parliment session like drama series,the only thing they can offer are just entertaining values.The way their wonderful leader behaving are really amusing too with one who goes to the shrine of past enemy to offer prayer and another one who is obviously you know what.

Investment bank moving HQ between HKG and Singapore, that is a business trend given the nature of potential business in PRC. Infact that happen quite sometime ago. But when relationship between PRC and US turn south than u see company moving back again.
