- Justify ministers' pay hike (in terms of TANGIBLE achievements)
- Name one achievement that this current regime did that help to make people's lives better
- Justify the 2% pay hike, when the govt's revenues did not decline
- Justify why he thinks 66.6% is majority, when the 66.6% is only a MINORITY of Singaporeans who voted.
If he cannot respond directly to these questions properly, there is no point talking to him, coz he doesn't know what he is talking about -

Our forefathers used to tell us how educated persons could contribute to society.
Nowadays, one wonders if our forefathers would still respect the highly educated people so often referred to as scholars or talents for whatever are their self-professed successes or contributions.
It would appear that from solid evidences the more highly educated is a person, the more he is likely to look after his own interests. Look at the percentages of citizens who cannot make end meet yet our scholars in public service are only looking after their own positions, pay increases, bonuses and pushing away problems back to the citizens who could hardly raise any issues given the draconian laws and regulations which can be used to deter them from speaking up.
So do citizens really care how educated are our MPs or Ministers? Why talk about scholars when ordinary citizens may be more committed in serving the country? -

Japan's defence minister resigns

Japanese Defence Minister Fumio Kyuma resigned Tuesday after sparking outrage with remarks seen as justifying the World War II atomic bombings of Japan by the United States.
Prime Minister Shinzo Abe, facing plummeting public support just weeks ahead of key elections, accepted the resignation.
"Things developed in a different direction than I expected and I can't gain people's understanding," Kyuma told reporters after meeting with Abe.
"I told the prime minister that I will resign," he said. "And the prime minister accepted my offer."
Kyuma sparked anger Saturday when he said that the nuclear attacks on Japan by the United States "couldn't be helped."
The controversy comes at a delicate time for Abe, who is battling to avoid a heavy defeat in the July 29 upper house elections that analysts say would be likely to prompt calls for his own resignation.
Kyuma, who represents Nagasaki in parliament, on Sunday apologised during a news conference in the southern port city for his remarks, which were denounced by ruling party and opposition lawmakers as well as victims of the attacks.
But his apology failed to settle the row, with the head of the ruling party's junior coalition partner New Komeito earlier calling for his resignation.
"He is responsible for making remarks that caused people's misunderstanding, although he argues that was not what he had intended," New Komeito secretary general Kazuo Kitagawa told reporters following the resignation.
"I think he himself made the judgement properly and swiftly."
Yukio Hatoyama, secretary general of the largest opposition Democratic Party, said Kyuma's decision was unavoidable.
"He should have resigned soon after he made the remarks," added Hatoyama.
Some 100 demonstrators staged a rally at Nagasaki Peace Memorial Park on Monday, carrying a banner protesting that the defence minister's remarks "would lead to the justification of nuclear bombings."
Nagasaki mayor Tomihisa Taue held talks with Kyuma on Tuesday and asked him to keep to "the policy of seeking to abolish nuclear weapons," while Kyuma apologised again to the mayor.
On August 9, 1945 a US nuclear bomb, codenamed "Fat Man" after British wartime prime minister Winston Churchill, killed more than 70,000 people in Nagasaki.
The bomb was even larger than "Little Boy" which was dropped three days earlier on Hiroshima, killing some 140,000 people. Japan surrendered on August 15, ending World War II.

It is ironical that LKY should openly state his admiration towards the Japanese Culture of ''Accepting Personal Responsibility'' that seems to permeate into the Private Corporation - in which even the Chairman of the Board, or the CEO of the Corporation will assume Personal Responsibility for their personal actions or that of their subordinate.
Unfortunately, this is a typical example of ''do what I wish for you to do, but do not do what I will not do''.
In the fifty years of continuous grip on the local political scene, the Ruling Party that form this Government has seen only ONE Minister taking responsibility for his own corrupt actions - by taking the ultimate task of killing himself, and saving the embarrassment to his family and his political ties.
Since then, other hints of possible scandals have seen several Ministers being reassigned or removed from their high profile public positions; and allowing them to return to their Private Lives with their preferred lifestyle kept private.
The Head of the Singapore Inc. remain untouch by all the undercurrents of scandalous mistakes that surfaces - and which can be attributed to its direct actions or inactions. -

anyway, I support the notion that the minister in that domain should either resign to accept responsibility (coz it shows how much our ministers are incapable of doing their job, and should make way for more capable people), or at least receive some form of punishment, like going to jail or getting fine.
After all, CEOs sign a form declaring that their companies are free from fraud and if found to breach the declaration, will be sent to jail.
The way Singapore is run, is like a corporation, we should impose these on our ministers so that they will be ever-vigilant and make sure they do a good job -

Whoever is the minister involved or to be held accountable it is more important that if there has been a wrong doing, negligence he is not excused even if he is a kit and kin of leader. The problem is for too long leaders are not willing to set an example of themselves to bring about such objective governance despite talking to the world about their accountability and transparency.
