Why do Singaporeans continue to vote for PAP?

My god,are all our fellow countrymen so damn...better not say lah.
Seriously,next time you vote,if you can,do NOT vote for PAP.Time those corrupt men in parliament learnt that they serve the people,not themselves.
Arrogant,corrupt,dishonourable people running policies that have no inclusiveness or compassion for the common man on the street.They get paid so much more than any ministers yet you choose to raise your pay to levels unheard of in the world.They do not know when to keep their mouth shut and 'angkat bola' for countries when there is no need to 'angkat bola'.No pride in ourselves.
Seriously,that's one reason why I want to leave this country and serve another as a soldier or make my living elsewhere in the world.Am I a quitter?
I have served this country.I am disillusioned with it.I am disillusioned with the PAP and the society it has bred.I am tired of the many people here who measure success by the narrow measures of money,academic marks when there is so much more to life.
This country could be so much more,and for that,I am sad.
I truly love this place,it's my home.But I'm just tired of it.I left to live in Sydney when I was 17 to complete high school there.I returned to serve NS.That was 4 years ago.I turned 21 this year.
In those 4 years,I have grown and matured and learned a lot of painful lessons and gone through hardships,lost friends,made friends,disappointed my parents and fought to have some measure of success by the standards of my own family and by the standards of society and myself.I don't know if I have succeeded.
I have learned a lot,and I can say without hesitation that there is so much more to this world and so much more that my nation and its people could be.Make a change and for once,inject new blood into our politics.That is one way of making a change in our people. -
The PAP may be scum, but the opposition still needs time to gain credibility, strength, and support. Have faith in democracy.

Think about the number of civil servants who work in civil service, uniformed organisations etc and it's not difficult to see why. Now, link that to the serial numbers on voting slips.
It's already half the battle won even before any electoral battle.
Question is: How do we release their grip on this? -
Yes, we need new blood in the politics here. However, complete change does not happen immediately, it takes time. Let's just hope that the winning percentage for the ruling party will continue to decline, and gradually they will be voted out of power.
WE don't need a ruling party who care and work only for themselves. All they care is $$$$$. In recent years, there have been so much of $$$$ money from them. This year is the worst, they said it and they got it, pay themselves such filthy super high salary.
Guess, those who left - left not because they don't like the country, but rather they left because they can't stand and agree with the way the ruling party is running Singapore.
Usually I drag to see them appearing on National Day Parade. They are losing respect of the people of Singapore, only minority Singaporeans respect them.

We are talking about a constituency level here before we finally move on to the big stage. Give them time and they shall take over your party. Even if it takes 50 years, I shall patiently wait. -

A responsible voter will vote for a party or MP that will do the most for his or her future...
So asking " Why do Singaporeans continue to vote for PAP? " U can never understand the reasons that what those Singaporeans give... Just as, if they ask u " Why do Singaporeans vote for Opposition?" They also will never understand the reasons that u give.
But be it with what reasons those people who vote for PAP or be it with what reasons those people who vote for opposition, we are all Singaporeans, we all treat this place as our home, we all made friends and lost friends in here, we all serve this country with our sweat and curse(male)...

the situation in Singapore is so totally different... and if you took a closer look at the so called politicians in australia.. you would know that they were all a big joke. between the different levels of government in australia... nothing gets done...
also is australia the only place you have been? you lived there for 4 years, did you ever get involved with politics in australia? did you pay attention to how farcical it can get?
before you want to start criticising the PAP, please take some time to understand the uniqueness of Singapore and our political situation. When you live in another country where the government is incompetent and waste your hard earned tax payers money on social welfare for druggies and alcoholics... you will begin to appreciate the efficiencies of the PAP... and their foresight.
the way people measure success in singapore is not a product of the PAP, it is the product of our society, the narrow measures of money and academia are used as benchmarks in all walks of society, they exist whereever you go, not just in singapore, they exist in australia, USA... etc...
what new blood do you want to inject into the political scene? so far from what I can see, there is no credible new blood, it is always easy to criticise, but seriously, take a good look around you... it could have been much worse... much much worse.... -

Anyway, some people have no idea how many 'responsible' voters vote for the opposition just because it seems to be the 'in' thing to go against PAP. Imho, PAP has always done a good job in governing Singapore.
Sure, there's a chinese saying that goes 'yi shan geng you yi shan gao', but how many of us are willing to risk our assets and financial stability to let a new party try what another has been doing for years?
If there's a compelling reason to, I'd take that risk. But no, PAP is doing just fine at the moment. Once again, the above was in my humble opinion (long for 'imho'). -

Credit to PAP for bringing Singapore to its developed status today. But foresight? Surely some of this vision has expired as evident in some of their policies.
Do not tell me you don't know which policies they are. This is the result of having gone unchecked in parliament for 20 odd years.
Mediacorp and SPH, with all its glamour....is not ranked the 149th media in the world alongside the likes of Somalia and Russia, for no rhyme or reason. -

My tax paying money may be spent on bludgers but I still get something back and I have a sense of security that Australia will look after me based on my resident status.
I work in Canberra. Seen their processes , tedious as it is, something gets done. Do you even understand the government processes first before I go on about it? Things maybe slower in Australia but one thing is that their process are quite transparent . Portfolio budget statements, live debates , senate estimates where senators from ruling and opposition parties pour through the expenditure and ask why things are spent that way and why some are not expended. Before you start criticising, you better understand the process.
Nothing gets done? Well excuse me , their biomedical hub is more advanced than Singapore's . What has Singapore produced since the hubbing of biomed started? And freedom of information, they have it here - Australian citizens can ask for information on anything they wish and the information is provided when possible.
Spending tax payer's monies on bludgers - well ........ok that is a part I don't like but hey free healthcare and nice subsidies for study , I get my benefits back. Spending taxpayer monies to pay the Minister's millions of a salary , I hate that when nothing can be gained.
If you are australian , you can be happy with your expat pay and I am happy for you too but I stayed in Singapore for too long working for crumbs and overworked because I was a local there . let me see , can you still run back to Australia when things go wrong? If you can, your statement is just plain waste of space because you can run easily.
Alot of Singaporeans can't except for a number of us. We get streamlined into a castelike system of who is more talented , who is designated for the ordinary workforce and who is designated for the menial labour workforce starting from the time we start school. So basically once your path is set , hard to get out of it. Australia meanwhile allows you to transfer into any job or position through retraining via subsidised postgrad studies or if you really want, can do an apprentice training course.
How to support my ageing parents with their health problems on top of paying for some govt subsidised hdb flat which costs as much as (if not more) a CBD apartment in Melbourne. So shut up if you can easily pick up the pieces and run back to Australia. And btw don't tell me that you gave up citizenship because Australian citizenship can be easily re-acquired back.
No country is perfect , each has its flaws. I sacrifice street safety for an opportunity to progress and specialise in a job I want to be in another country and build upon my experiences than to have my country tell me that just because an employer can legally age discriminate against me , I have to work in macdonalds or wash the toilets. -
