MM Lee calls on French President Sarkozy in Paris

Minister Mentor Lee Kuan Yew, who is in Paris for a week, met the new French President Nikolai Sarkozy on Wednesday.
The two leaders met for about half an hour at the Elysee Palace.
A statement from the palace said that talks focused on bilateral relations.
There are currently more than 400 French companies established in Singapore.
The meeting also touched on the co-operation between the European Union and East Asia, which was launched in the 1990s at Singapore's initiative.
Minister Mentor Lee and President Sarkozy also exchanged views on the means to further deepen this co-operation.
Mr Lee also gave his views on the overall international situation.
Mr Lee, who is accompanied by Mrs Lee on the visit, is in Paris to attend the Total International Advisory Committee meeting. - CNA /ls
I thought the leader of Singapore is PM Lee Hsien Loong? How come MM Lee is also given the status? How many leaders does Singapore have? How many leaders does France have?
This is one big joke. -
MM Lee's name is bigger than PM Lee, although PM Lee's rank is higher.
My optician always says this when we talk about it. When MM Lee is gone, you will see how small PM Lee is. -
Agree.....his power base is his daddy, I don't think he can be as capable as his dad. maybe we are seeing a trend here with a ring of super wage Senior ministers encircling a regular younger parlimentary minister. A structure that move to a 2 tier parlimentary.

You're looking too much into the sentence. I often see pairs or groups of people described as "leaders" or some some such term even when their status within their own country is different, both protocol wise and in terms of actual power.
