I guess it was banned because it degenerated into name-calling and references to human anatomy, parentage and what not.
If it were in my forum, I'd lock the damned thing as well. Why should I condone childishness in the thread?

Well, if there is some political motivation behind the ban, you will never get to know about it too.
If the mods have been coerced into enforcing the ban, they will probably be coerced into providing a non-political reason for the ban. -
