the PAP government

a significant number of people here are opposed to or are simply anti PAP. what i don't understand is, Singapore is where we are today because of the PAP government, from the 1960s to present. note i am NOT a PAP supporter. i cant vote. im a minor. i disagree with some of their policies, e.g. 7 % GST hike.
but what we should keep in mind is that, for all its shortcomings and stifling of freedom(press or otherwise), we should appreciate the PAP. -

if we were still under the british, we would have been like hong kong and progressed just the same. -

You may want to look beyond the surface when you look at Singapore, the present govt and the building of Singapore. Of course, we are thankful for what the present govt did in the past to bring Singapore this far. Bear in mind, the building of Singapore is not by the present govt alone, it is together with the people of Singapore. So sorry to say that we are made believe to think that PAP or MM Lee built Singapore alone. We canÂ’t keep basing on the past history/past results of the present govt to look at them. You know it is like, you canÂ’t base on your employeeÂ’s last year excellent performance to keep rewarding him when his present performance is bad. If you do, you are encouraging bad performance. Likewise, we take stock of what the govt did and is doing as leaders of/to our nation.
It will be good if you can gather more facts and reality before talking on this. -

Ts cannot be more correct. Yes, the PAP has boo-booed on quite a few things. But it has also got even more things right..... so surely they still deserve some credit....

Just cannot understand why the capable ministers had to retire early for personal reasons or to make way for new blood, while LKY is the last man standing.
These pioneer batch of ministers, civil servants, with the help of Dutch econmist Albert Winsemius, the Israelis who helped build the SAF and the CITIZENS of Singapore brought Singapore to where she is today.
In short, it was a group effort. -

If you did well for your PSLE ten years ago, then I congratulate you for it.
But right now I'm more interested in your current grade point average.
Likewise, I appreciate the PAP's past work, but I'm more interested in what they're doing for the country now and what they can do in the future.
