Sg Crime rate on the rise

SINGAPORE: A Pasir Ris family lost some S$60,000 worth of valuables early Saturday morning when their home at Riverina View was broken into while they were sleeping.

It is believed three perpetrators had forced their way into the house through the back door.
They escaped with a loot of jewellery, mobile phones and watches.
The police said although the number of housebreaking incidents has gone down in the first five months of this year compared to the same period last year, it has issued an advisory asking home owners to take adequate crime prevention measures to secure their property, such as installing a security system.
It is also wise to lock all doors and windows even when you are away for a short time, and to keep cash and valuables in a safe deposit box.
Police are still investigating the robbery.

Don't believe everything you read.
For example: Do you believe Richard Yong got out of Sg before the system placed a block on his exit? Perhaps, just perhaps, its a save face move to prevent people from thinking out law-enforcers are incompetent? I am not saying that our police force is not good, perhaps its a suggestion. Real Criminal minds can tell whether our enforcers are capable or not. -
how did they get the 60k figure? that sounds like an excessive amount.

ya...police always cant solve housebreaking case. they will make a notice board like house breaking happen at what time/what area. then no news after that. at least shld hv notice board like case solved. got head no tail

On the other hand, please compare the amount of local news on crimes in the previous years with the present.
Past - not much news, so crime rate pretty low.
Present - quite a lot, crime rate up.
Police news - crime rate down.

Acutally I think ours cops not bad.
Always see them raid VCD sellers, arrest ah mats at hawker centers and summon ppl for parking illegally or drunk driving.
Also see them napping in the patrol cars in the wee hours to charge power to gun fight with parang wielding ah bengs.
Not bad sia. Every time got news flash abt them since 1980 the newspaper also say the crime rates go down. If original crime rate is 5% and every year go down by 0.5%, that means our crime rate is now -14%. Wah! Even lower than 0%. Powderful! Maybe every NPP also employ one robocop. -

so rich , 60k at least invest 10k on security mah , hire guards , dogs , alarm , motion detector , and those kind of trap that lure thief in then the whole room is auto locked .
I think get every room fix with those gadget with 10k budget still got alot change leh.
