If parents moulded their children, WHO molded the parents? The parents' parents?Originally posted by sgdiehard:People are not moulded by government, but by their parents, their upbringing. hmm... it is difficult to anwswer your question looking at the geneology. But if the governments were to mould the family, assuming this is a Chinese Singaporean, then the father would be molded by the Singapore government, mainly PAP with a little influence from the Malayan government.Originally posted by ShutterBug:If parents moulded their children, WHO molded the parents? Influences from schools, TV, computers, society, are but just Side Effects... but as a whole and from the instilled basic instincts from the government's self-serving non-welfare policies, society has been indirectly taught to ..well.. be ahead of others, and generally self-centered...as I have way earlier in this thread posted as follows:Originally posted by sgdiehard:hmm... it is difficult to anwswer your question looking at the geneology. The grandfather would be moulded by the British colonial government, don't know for how many generations.
Then their grand grand fathers from China, under the KMT government or the Qing Dynasty,.....
going further would means nothing because however the great great great grandfathers were molded in those days by the government, down the generations the molding would have been unmolded and remolded.
So what remains in the family today that were molded by the Qing Government, the British government, the Malayan government or the PAP government? They don't have the pony tail that resemble the people in the Qing Dynasty, the KMT government hardly had any influence at all, going through wars of unification and with Japan. They can't call themselves British and will not qualify to salute the Queen. Don't know what influence was there from the Malaysian government, but everything in the latest generation must be the result of the PAP?
I guess only the good and successful guys would be happy to attribute their success to their parents. Not fair to blame their parents for anything not so good.
Only those who spoke english got to work for the British government, and LKY shut down Chinese schools, but my father and uncles were from Chinese schools, the Chinese helicopters, because my grand father said that was better. Today, I am very proud of that heritage, moulded by my family, not by the government
There are good, bad and the ugly sides of me. My parents tought me to be good, I din't listen to them all the time, thus the bad and ugly sides. It is with this family value that I gauge the government, not the other way round. It is a tough battle today against the influence that comes from TV, computers, schools, society as a whole, but I make sure family values, developed from my religion and my culture/traditions, decide what is good or bad for my children, not the government.

why should there be more of such incidents when the caucasian not only scold a country, but also a race that stands a huge portion of the worldOriginally posted by ShutterBug:As for this matter of a raving mad Caucasian, I hope there will be more of such incidences... because ultimately it reflects on the way people were moulded by the government, and the government's open policy to foreigners influx....
Actually sometimes the local is not perfect n there is an article yesterday about a local complaining their inconsiderate local clipping nail on the busOriginally posted by BusSpeeder:why should there be more of such incidents when the caucasian not only scold a country, but also a race that stands a huge portion of the world
