SBS Transit should explain 'new' pram policy
WITH our Government's proactive efforts in boosting the low birth rate, as well as encouraging locals in taking public transport, I was taken aback when I encountered an unpleasant incident on an SBS Transit Bus No 269 on July 7 at around 1.30pm, opposite the Yio Chu Kang Community Centre.
According to the bus driver, SBS Transit has just implemented a new 'policy' whereby all prams are to be closed when boarding the bus.
Even though the bus driver has warned the woman about the 'policy', a woman with her sleeping baby in the pram continued to board the bus as she has reasoned out that she could not carry her baby, the pram and the entire baby's stuff by herself with two hands.
Upon reconfirmation by the headquarters, with the entire conversation put on speakerphone, the bus driver refused to drive off.
All the passengers onboard, comprising mainly the elderly with walking difficulties in their crutches and housewives with a handful of plastic bags from their marketing, were told to alight to wait for the next bus.
Would SBS Transit care to clarify the reason behind the implementation of the new 'policy' and how it could be further improved to prevent similar incidents from recurring?

Oh what retards we have creating our transport rules, and what thick-headed idiots of a bus driver that cannot think out of the box and assist the mother.
