When it come to donation, I usually do not refused. But when the President Star Charity started, I hesitated and is quite unwilling to donate. REason being, the President himself is drawing so much, if it is in his name, why can't he give some of this money to charity. Besides, for him to approach the Minister and the rich in Singapore to raise fund is so much more effective than to collect from us poor peasants. So I suspect it is just part of the plot for the telco to earn extra money and media corp to increase revenue through advertisment.

Need to thank Richard Yong. He's in the news again. Just reminded me the lesson learned from organised charitable organisations. How much really went to the needy and how much went into their pockets?

What if merely the top 10% income earners donate their 1 days', just merely only 1 days' worth of salary to president star harity?
That will solve all mother of all problems of donation right?
if average salary $300K a month, 1 day is $10K leh. instead of asking each of the poor 90% donate littlt bit by little bit, their 10K a shot is enough to donate on behalf of say 10K people of the 90% right?
More effective and chop chop mah.

The reserves is sooooo precious that they refuse to use it, and rather force more out of us.
To me, no charity donations, coz
(1) You are just encouraging the govt to do less, since you do for them
(2) You do not know whether these charities are true or not.
If you really want to donate, I think choosing a particular hospice, old folks' home, orphans' home and donate directly will be better.
