Cai Shenjiang's words that 'if you do have confidence in society, why do you still hide behind that veil', is what I think is true. Your analogy isn't good, but I do get your meaning. I do understand that what Cai Shenjiang did is quite insensitive and perhaps even harsh but you cannot deny the truth in his words.
what he say may be true, but what he say has harmful consequences to the other person. is it right to say all you like, knowing it will cause grave harm to the other person?
so while i never denied the truth of his words, those words don't do anyone any good so is in fact worthless. since Cai's words have harmful implications to the other person, he is in fact being very irresponsible, which is what i'm saying. why say things to harm people only to make yourself look good?

As for your analogy, it is YOUR choice to drink or not. At the end of the day, YOU are the decision-maker. YOU alone is responsible if you crashed into someone. Besides, if YOU decides to drink, YOU should know that YOU shouldn't be driving at all.
As I said, it is ultimately the guy's decision whether he wants to comes out or not. He had a choice to make, and he chose to come out. I think it is very brave of him. I wish all the best to the guy, honestly.
let's add to the story by saying that you're so drunk you drove off without even knowing what you're doing. of course the police won't buy your story, but if we suppose it were true and somehow it can be proven, then the only fault you have is with drinking in the first place.
that leads us to ask who is that idiot who made you drink in the first place. again, you may say it is entirely up to you to choose not to drink in the first place. but what if the person asking you to drink is an important customer who can either make or break your business? do you still say no?
life is never so simple and we are seldom a master of our own wishes. as the chinese saying goes "we in society cannot do as we please".
In any case, what is important for us is to realise that many of our actions are affected or influenced by people around us. So when we see a person's actions and judge him on the basis of those actions, do we also see his accomplice edging him on by the side? isn't he the more sinister of the two?
remember the murder case involving some Mr Ler who managed to convince some kid to commit murder on his behalf? we cannot condone the kid who committed the murder, neither should we condone Mr Ler.
so while it is his and his decision alone to unveil himself, we must not forget that it was cai tao kuay who edged him on.
