I don't want to see LHL on the banner, this will remind Singaporeans of his undeserved super pay, one and only PM in Singapore who dares to give himself super high pay when he is not performing well to serve the nation. bad aura! In fact, the banner should have the nation pics on it instead of the pay and pay.Originally posted by 4getmenot:might as well change it to PAP Day 2007....
if the banner had picture of LHL, its understandable.. but other than that..![]()

Personally, I couldn't care less about NDP or the day itself... it's been worn out of me...

First and foremost, if you've noticed the various banners put up on lampposts all over Singapore. THe design's fine, the layout's fine, but there's one thing which I never get - why must they paste the constituency's MP's face on the banner? Isnt national day a NATIONAL affair? wads with the separation of Singapore into constituencies? this isnt a General Election, people. it's something called national day.
Over the past few years the NDP committee has come up with brilliant, catchy or at least Singapore-worthy taglines to go with "NDP 2005" or whatever. This year the tagline absolutely shcoked me. city of possibilities?
I noe what the authorities are hinting at, that we're a nation which has many avenues in which it can develop itself and stuff, but it honestly sounds, with all respect to them, a third-world country national tourism tagline. Imagine some third world country, with this tagline within the poster "CIty of Possibilities". Perfectly imaginable. And why so? cos possibility sounds more uncertain, sounds like u're begging people to come and invest in this place which MIGHT have a wonderful future ahead and is hoping for the best. Certainly not worthy of Singapore - a self proclaimed First World Country. we deserve sth better. something more glam. something more determined. something which takes pride in us being the nation of Singapore. not being uncertain of ourselves. So much for the millions and millions of dollars which is being invested in this "national celebration".

Perhaps I'm asking the obvious, but do they paste the faces of opposition constituency's MP? If they do not, then it's obvious national day will look more like a PAP day to foreigners/tourist.Originally posted by panda_panda:
