Inventions and stuffs needs unrestricted creativity. There is no doubt that the average FTs and serfs will continue to pour into Singapore, but would it lead to a better standard of living for Singapore? Ultimately, with all these average joes and serfs, we will end up as a 3rd world factory.
Unlike other countries, singapore and the gahmen cannot provide the sort of environment for certain specialty and creativity. Sometimes creativity can be restricted by $$$, you know the gahmen!!!

Last year, come across this PC guy who came to fix the PC for me, told me the reason he will be leaving for UK for study is because there is no local university offering the marine engineering course he will be pursuing in UK. He said he won't come back as he will be working with the company that is sponsoring him for the course in UK. He does not see any prospect in Singapore. Thus he asks the mum to move to UK, too.
