It is no secret how Singapore is run, foreigners know about it. (Above) Interesting to listen to what they say.
* Mr Ma stated both Singapore and Taiwan are different. Taiwan is democratic. He is not adopting the same approach as Singapore in the way he will run Taiwan.
pertaining to Mr Ma's visit to Singapore, basically, they are talking about the way the good govt here run Singapore.Originally posted by rathcycle:uhm.. translate please ?? dun understand their chinese.

I want Singapore to adopt some of their traits, though leaving the annual Parliamentary fights out. Right now, no one can deny that Taiwan is a comparatively success at being the only Chinese democracy.Originally posted by crazy monkey:so you want Singapore to be as democratic as Taiwan ?
they have the media checking on the govt, which we lack here and I think this is useful and important. I admire the determination and the spirit of the taiwanese where democracy is concerned.Originally posted by LazerLordz:I want Singapore to adopt some of their traits, though leaving the annual Parliamentary fights out. Don't insult the Chinese by saying that they only deserve either an outmoded totalitarian state or Confucianist bullcrap governing philosophy..

The past recent Election results, is STATS enough...Originally posted by Mat Toro:Did you conduct a survey on that? Where are the stats please.
You are refering to citizens' respect or international?Originally posted by HyperFocal:And our's is losing respect year after year....
It is better to watch Quan Min Da Men Guo, it is more entertaining and representative of the taiwanese society; it would be wonderful if we could have a program like this depicting the other side of the Singapore society.Originally posted by wisefool83:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PswsQOPW9SA&mode=related&search

Here, I linked it for convenience sake.
Can't really catch their Taiwan Hokkien but I'm a bit curious about the title of the show "Da Hua Xin Wen", didn't watch this program before but is it a proper news kind of news or is it like entertainment style news like Quan Min Da Men Guo?
P.S, I didn't finish watching both, just skip here and there cause I'm in the office and I don't want to be sacked.
I refer to the (our) government's loss of respect from both Local & International peoples...Originally posted by wisefool83:You are refering to citizens' respect or international?
If it's the latter, then Taiwan's govt is also losing respect year after year.
Hmmm.... but Taiwan's current govt don't seem to be gaining a lot of respect both within and without of their region too..Originally posted by HyperFocal:I refer to the (our) government's loss of respect from both Local & International peoples...
I feel govs of different countries are just cordial out of political correctness and of course, depending on who is LARGER...Originally posted by wisefool83:Hmmm.... but Taiwan's current govt don't seem to be gaining a lot of respect both within and without of their region too..
Based on election result, (which u have used as one of the measure for Sg's govt) current TW's govt's approval rate is much lower than it was.
On the international front, more of their "friends" are ditching them for Mainland, but that could be argued to be because of $. But even their closest friend, the US seems to be a lot harder on them nowadays, which I presume to be an indication of losing respect.
Unless of course your international refers to the good citizens of the world rather than the state players, in which case I have no stats and hence no comments.
election results showed PAP landslide wins. people do respect govt.Originally posted by HyperFocal:The past recent Election results, is STATS enough...
Yes, Money and power matter most to the MIWs, where is the priority of looking after the people? The taiwanese have done a good job doing their homework to find out about the PAP.Originally posted by HyperFocal:I feel govs of different countries are just cordial out of political correctness and of course, depending on who is LARGER...
But yes, I refer to people - citizens of the world...
Everybody and the world now knows, MONEY, is all that mattered to the government of SG...
Yes they do respect, I didn't say that there no more respect - but lesser and lesser...Originally posted by Mat Toro:election results showed PAP landslide wins. people do respect govt.
