Not if Singaporeans continue believing in what the media reports. The media is a very strong psychological medium to control the population. Their percentages might widen further, but seems unlikely they will be voted out soon.Originally posted by HyperFocal:Yeah sure hell looks like they are helping themselves...
In time, they'll help themselves out of the Elections....![]()

Good night.

Why don't you talk about country whereby people give birth at the hospital at no charge, the govt bear the cost? The only fee they pay is the admin charge. This is Johor that I am talking about. Mind you Malaysia is a big country unlike Singapore. If the Malaysia govt can take care of such charges why can't our govt with a small tiny island like singapore. and still goes on to expect singaporeans to give birth to help to increase the population.
Once again, trying to mislead others without giving the full picture:
"There are 12 private hospitals, with charges ranging from about $320 a day for a bed in a general ward to $900 or more for a first class ward. [b]Patients have to pay for all services, such as medicine and dressings, besides the daily attendance fees for doctors."

A hospital stay is not just about renting a bed...you can get one at a cheaper rate at hotel 88
What about the X-rays and blood tests, costs of morning consultations, pathology services, medication, nursing care? All lab charges, medication etc. for subsidized patients in Singapore hospitals are capped. In private hospital, we'll charge you each time you ring the bell for a nurse![]()
As for daily attendance fees for doctors, Hong Kong doctors are paid 2-3 times that of Singapore doctors. Go figure

Never expect the present gahmen to take care of us like what the govt in other countries are doing as long as the damn Lee hsien loong is in power. REmember, he said it more than once that he is not going to make singapore a welfare state. He reiterated this - need he be such?Originally posted by HyperFocal:I wonder how the hell the Minister for Health can claim that Healthcare Costs are "reasonably INEXPENSIVE" amidst all these increases in Hospital charges and medical costs???
At the end of the day, what bluddy use is Medisave when it can hardly cover such inflated and ever inflating medical & healthcare costs?
So basically, isn't CPF/Medisave just a lame excuse to hold on to our money?
I understand people are Taxed much more in other countries, but at least, in the end they are promised truly TANGIBLE medical coverage and pension...
What do we have here? One illusion after another.... or a better discription is a carrot on a stick that gets longer and longer...![]()
are you talking about fellows in gahmen hospital? If you are, I am not the least surprised. these recent years the gahmen hospital(s) have been going to india to recruit doctors. Paying them cheap cheap salary.Originally posted by Mid9Sun:U know I went to this skin centre to seek treatment for my sandflies bite.

Yeah cheap cheap, unfortunately 1 of the doc doesnt know what she doing, had to send for the resident senior doctor which meant another extra 45 mins waitOriginally posted by qlqq9:are you talking about fellows in gahmen hospital? Once I brought my dad to see a specialist, the specialist (quite a senior consultant) said my dad has tendonitis, he added, although my dad has arthritis, but it was not so severe as to warrant surgery. We were told to wait outside because he need to extract other medical information regarding my dad.Originally posted by Mid9Sun:Yeah cheap cheap, unfortunately 1 of the doc doesnt know what she doing, had to send for the resident senior doctor which meant another extra 45 mins wait
I was working closely with doctors on project. and got to know that these days the quality of doctors are not good as before. u know many of the local medical students only just manage to pass the test. many of whom are really arrogant! A doctor colleague told me, he is a senior doctor who conduct lecture to the medical students, said he just merely ask a question (not harsh), the medical student could not answer, and then cried in front of him. Oh goodness! Even the senior doctors shook their heads when they talked about how the medical students are performing.Originally posted by maurizio13:Once I brought my dad to see a specialist, the specialist (quite a senior consultant) said my dad has tendonitis, he added, although my dad has arthritis, but it was not so severe as to warrant surgery. After they have extracted the medical information, another junior consultant saw my dad. First thing he said before we even sat down was, "so when does your dad want the appointment for surgery". Geez!!! He hasn't even look at the medical docket, much less ask my dad what's his problem. He continued to write alot of bullsh|t on the medical file, despite my protest that the senior consultant did not recommend surgery. After writing 2 pages worth of report, he asked me, "so have you seen Dr. XXX (the previous senior consultant), I said, "yes, he already wrote his diagnosis on the page before yours", he flipped to look at the senior consultant's diagnosis, then he proceeded to cancel all that he has wrote. Then the senior consultant came back and told the junior doctor of his diagnosis and told him he does not recommend surgery. Incompetent doctors!!!
In another case (same hospital), I saw a patient talking to the nurse about a certain doctor, I don't know what exactly happened, but the nurse was saying "strange that the doctor is not answering his handphone", maybe the patient has something to query the doctor about his diagnosis which he dispute (I don't know). In the end, the patient just walked away, the nurse called out to the patient to collect a letter from her, the patient refused and just walked away. Then the nurse shout out to the patient "the hospital will still send you a bill for the services", the patient shouted back "you can send, but I am not going to pay".
I don't blame the fellow doctor, because sometimes they are not trained properly and under pressure to perform. being a foreigner, they too get bullied by the local doctors.Originally posted by Mid9Sun:Yeah cheap cheap, unfortunately 1 of the doc doesnt know what she doing, had to send for the resident senior doctor which meant another extra 45 mins wait
Of course la, the gahmen hospitals all staffed with "foreign talent" now... with the crap pay they offering, all the Singapore doctors (who have to pay CPF + local school fee + PAP Minister Tax + etc) have all left....Originally posted by qlqq9:are you talking about fellows in gahmen hospital? REally they pay peanuts for the FT doctors those from the third world countries and make them work real hard.Originally posted by pooh_bear:Of course la, the gahmen hospitals all staffed with "foreign talent" now... with the crap pay they offering, all the Singapore doctors (who have to pay CPF + local school fee + PAP Minister Tax + etc) have all left....
Even the crap pay they offer is only enough for cannot-make-it FTs... the good ones all gone to USA, Australia, etc. Only the rejects then come here. What u expect? Pay peanuts, get gold plated taps issit?
Contrary to popular belief, they are paid the same as the local doctors, except they get housing allowance but no CPF (in the end works out to be the same).Originally posted by qlqq9:REally they pay peanuts for the FT doctors those from the third world countries and make them work real hard.
Haha.....so you concede not all doctors are equally good. Exactly...if you want an experienced doctor with better qualifications, you have to pay more. If Singaporeans want cheap medical treatment like in neighbouring nations, there are plenty of doctors there we can bring over. Those who want the best must pay the market rate.Originally posted by maurizio13:Then the senior consultant came back and told the junior doctor of his diagnosis and told him he does not recommend surgery. Obviously you don't understand the meaning of the word incompetent. Having more qualifications doesn't necessarily make one competent. Take yourself for example, constantly getting pwned in sgForums, goes to prove my point.Originally posted by oxford mushroom:Haha.....so you concede not all doctors are equally good.
