Raising prices does not improve the service at all. If you have 100 doctors before price increase and 100 doctors after price increase. Only means you are getting more profits, whereas efficiency still remains the same.Originally posted by the Bear:well, hey.. the gabrament wants to try to fix it.. with the only way they know how.. by increasing the cost

Not really, by rising the price so that the poor simply can't afford it, they will cut down the demand such that only the rich can afford to seek medical help. Brilliant, isn't it?Originally posted by maurizio13:Raising prices does not improve the service at all. If you have 100 doctors before price increase and 100 doctors after price increase. may be they increase hospital bill and the others is to make sure they still can draw their 33% increase of salary, ha ha!!! Almost every week, they have been giving us nuts!!!! Sweets will come when election is drawing near!Originally posted by the Bear:for that slap, they want a 33% increase in pay

Once again, trying to mislead others without giving the full picture:
"There are 12 private hospitals, with charges ranging from about $320 a day for a bed in a general ward to $900 or more for a first class ward. Patients have to pay for all services, such as medicine and dressings, besides the daily attendance fees for doctors."

A hospital stay is not just about renting a bed...you can get one at a cheaper rate at hotel 88
What about the X-rays and blood tests, costs of morning consultations, pathology services, medication, nursing care? All lab charges, medication etc. for subsidized patients in Singapore hospitals are capped. In private hospital, we'll charge you each time you ring the bell for a nurse![]()
As for daily attendance fees for doctors, Hong Kong doctors are paid 2-3 times that of Singapore doctors. Go figure

They knew the Hospital bills, GST and the Land development charge was going up and so they raise their million dollars salaries first, and the rest of us be damnmed?

Hehehe.......
How sad that you seem unable to understand simple English. Even the PRCs can do better...tsk tsk..Originally posted by maurizio13:I think OM go do research for me to support my points.![]()
Geez!!Originally posted by oxford mushroom:How sad that you seem unable to understand simple English. Even the PRCs can do better...tsk tsk..
It's not the ward charges, dude! It's the lab charges, daily consultation charges, medication etc. that constitute the bulk of a hospital bill. There is a cap to lab charges for subsidized patients in Singapore public hospitals, whilst the sky's the limit for private hospitals in Hong Kong. No wonder Singapore students are losing out to PRC students in English Comprehension...sigh...
Listen dumbo.....many companies practically give out free printers because they more than earn their investment back by charging more for their cartridges. And simple folks like you still think you have a good deal....![]()
Good morning ShutterBug.Originally posted by HyperFocal:I wonder how the hell the Minister for Health can claim that Healthcare Costs are "reasonably INEXPENSIVE" amidst all these increases in Hospital charges and medical costs???
At the end of the day, what bluddy use is Medisave when it can hardly cover such inflated and ever inflating medical & healthcare costs?
So basically, isn't CPF/Medisave just a lame excuse to hold on to our money?
I understand people are Taxed much more in other countries, but at least, in the end they are promised truly TANGIBLE medical coverage and pension...
What do we have here? One illusion after another.... or a better discription is a carrot on a stick that gets longer and longer...![]()
Morning maurizio13!Originally posted by maurizio13:Good morning ShutterBug.
Of course he can say it's "reasonably inexpensive", he was using himself as comparison with his multi million dollar salary.
You sure there's a carrot at the end of that stick? Maybe it's just an illusion?![]()
Didn't MM say help the poor ministers family? Guess he was correct, he meant helping the poor ministers family. Help reduce cost of living for the ministers.Originally posted by HyperFocal:Morning maurizio13!
hahahaaa... yeah probably is...!
I always say that the things they do, are ALWAYS different and contradictory to the things they say - eg. "Help the Poor", "Reducae Costs of living"...
All emtpy promises....![]()
Yeah sure hell looks like they are helping themselves...Originally posted by maurizio13:Didn't MM say help the poor ministers family? Guess he was correct, he meant helping the poor ministers family. Help reduce cost of living for the ministers.
He did make the promise lah, but only to a specific group of person (like the ministers).![]()
