The ones who should wake up is the government - they should take a good look around before blabbering about Work Life Balances...Originally posted by elindra:Seriously it is really demanding being a teacher these days
They need to prepare schoolwork, be there with the kids and be contactable 24/7 (phone/email/msn) -_-". There are also the ECA, Teacher's meetings blah blah blah blah blah. And all these affect their performance report.
I'm not a teacher but have friends who are.
I think that guy should really wake up and look around him
5 Day work week?
SG is already so competitive. Soon our teachers will all be FTs too
His wife don't work every Sat and he's complaining
Thing is many people still has faith in the govt, and believes them when they say stuff in the local media.Originally posted by BillyBong:This is old news.
Unfortunately, a system that is already rotten will find it difficult to purge itself of a decapitating disease that has cripped the ministry of education for so long.
The original concept of giving civil servants a 5-day week was simply to ensure that family time was given its due over the weekend. Unfortunately, this act, which began with the best of intentions, has regurgitated into the same cesspool it supposedly grew out of - whatever was our govt thinking when they implemented such a scheme without the means to enforce it?
In the meantime, the STU plays the role of a bootlicking troll, pandering to the wishes of MOE instead of fighting for appropriate rights.
Should we have any belief in a system that has failed? Perhaps whistleblowing is the only way out now....
this is over rated.Originally posted by dragg:dont forget that teachers enjoy long school holidays.

what makes you think that this is not driven by parents who expect schools to provide more for this kids?Originally posted by HyperFocal:The ones who should wake up is the government - they should take a good look around before blabbering about Work Life Balances...
Originally posted by Cindyfeh:hell... The gov can advocate for even 1 day work week for all they want when in real fact, if you don't want to work 6 days week plus OT on most days, then the employer will find ways to get rid of you. With little labor law protection plus minimum union support, employees are for the slaughter!
Talk about 5 days work-week is cheap.
Once again, the 66% must be very very very happy AGAIN! (wonder if they were slaves in their previous lives)... hmm
Can you believe this guy?Originally posted by Gazelle:what makes you think that this is not driven by parents who expect schools to provide more for this kids?
