I know of some people, really irritating. They opened their mouths for literally every topic, thinking that it shows they are really knowledgeable, when in fact, they do not know what they are talking about.
Ask yourself during this current discussion, what you have proven? That you don't know anything about IT? Yup!

Most of the ones I knew are heading to the States.
For professional degrees such as architecture, civil engineering, don't think Singapore recognises the degrees from the PRC uni.
So far the only people from PRC in Singapore construction are the workers, they don't take over local architect jobs. If I am not wrong, the philippino architects are the ones here offering cheap services. But from what I understand, few are as good as local architects, and whether they still take the jobs from fresh local architecture graduates or not I don't know.Originally posted by NewAge:

Another factor to consider whether yr uni education is worthwhile or not is the uni that u attended. For eg. You are a local architect with a local U degree. U are easily replaceable with a PRC holding a Beijing Uni degree who demand a lower pay. The architect with a local degree lost his job easily. If a uni degree cant help him find a job what for does he need it especially since a degree will land him in debts.. -

I would say that one should not hesitate to invest in a local uni education. Its more than worthwhile if u can get a place. Those private/dist learning ones.. really got to think thrice..

Paper qualification is very important in asian countries, but not in western countries. In some advance countries, as UK, Europes, Aus, US, etc.
An experience tradesmen are earning more then a degree holder, and may not need to work as hard. But in this countries there are minimum wages and FT control.
But in Asia especially in Sg, w/o a degree or paper qualification, in most cases are doom.... unless you are born with silver spoon or outstanding talents.
So a recognised uni education is not only worthwhile to invest, but will become a way of life in a highly competitive society (Sg).
