For all these years, please, I beg you, tell me, which year is justifiable ???Originally posted by qlqq9:There is not going to be any stop to it for the gahmen and th PTC have insatiable appetite for greed and money.
Despite the yearly increase, the buses take long to arrive especially over the weekends. Thus I would say that fare hike is not justified.
I regret informing you that none of these years are justifiable for the fares to be increased.Originally posted by ORIGAMIST:For all these years, please, I beg you, tell me, which year is justifiable ???
no,no regret, you are just re-enforcing my point, the increase have never been justified and yet year after year we have to endure it.. where got meaning ??Originally posted by qlqq9:I regret informing you that none of these years are justifiable for the fares to be increased.
It has more to do with greed than any other reason that they increase the fare.
You are right. first is the car - more ERP gantries are built and time extended, now bus, how can train don't follow ??Originally posted by FireIce:now chiam si is bus nia

I think it is fair to say that , from a business perspective, increasing PROFIT is nobel. Its their ultimate purpose for existence. So, I think as a profitable organization, they are superb performers.Originally posted by qlqq9:I regret informing you that none of these years are justifiable for the fares to be increased.

Don't compare Singapore with Europe, it is irrelevant. Gahmen are forcing people to accept it unless they don't need to travel by public transport. YOu are expecting people to accept it?Originally posted by reddressman:I think it is fair to say that , from a business perspective, increasing PROFIT is nobel. I think this HIKE will be absorbed by the PEOPLE , the same way as the People have accepted it all the while. Perfect record. But this is 'i think' only lah. You guys see for yourselves if my prediction is correct that the HIKE will come true and everyone will accept. Just like the annuity. Eventually.
Singaporeans are like that. They are highly educated and very 1st world. They will accept. I bet my balls on this.
Count ourselves lucky. This kind of fare is just the beginning. We need to reach 1st world transport fare standard. In Europe, short trip (about less tha 5 km) by bus is about S$3. We still need to work towards that day.
Also, Taxi costs about S$80 to S$100 for short distance of say 8km.
See, ladies and gentlemen, the good thing about being declared a 1st world is that many BUSINESSES wil increase profit. And hope you get same increase in value.
As seen in above illustrations, Singapore transport has a lot of room for hikes. Is this GOOD or BAD? I leave it to you. YOU the PEOPLE are the ones affected.
I predict everyone will accept. Its very clear cut. Singaporeans are SMART.

Will hiking transport fares encourage the PEOPLE, the stakeholders to give up driving? If not, is ERP going for extension?
What a wonderful world. Full compliance. The singapore way. Absolute democracy.
