Let me say that the country to me is ok,.. lots of food variety, can shop till you drop or pocket catch fire (whichever comes first) ... buy the latest gadget, car, or PDA phones... walk around late at night without fear of being mugged (though I'm not too sure now with all the foreigners here.. )... the Town Council that takes care of my estate is Fantastically Efficient...
but ULTIMATELY - the government SUCKS ROYALE...!!!
I will miss some friends and relative here, and as well all the sumptiously delicious (but high in cholestrol) local food and dishes... but I sure as hell won't miss the government..>!

Let me ask; how many foreigners here are from China, and how many are from other countries?
Given the size of China's population, if the government ecnourages them to migrate, do business or work here, how many do you think will convert to local citizens versus those from other counries?
Then, can someone come up with the ratio at which Singaporeans are migrating outwards versus foreigners who are converting to local citizenships?
With this stat, you will be able to see what will become of Singapore some 20 years or more down the road.... and at a targetted population ideal of 6.5 million...
Personally, I believe it will become OVER-CROWDED...
There will be more foreigners than locals....
Living costs will have reached the moon by then...
... and when or should Singapore experience another Economic Downturn...
all these foreigners will be leaving in droves - leaving behind the thin core of locals who will likely be in worse crap than ever... -

Not all who left are Talents... I don't call myself Talent either, I just worked myself towards this goal...
.. right now, local parents who are common folks - their children are studying hard with the intention to study abroad and make their career there as well...
and along with them, they shall pull the parents over...
but for the majority who old or too old, or simply lack the financial resource... they will be stuck in SG to suffer whatever fates that come their way...
I can't see much happiness or contentment for these people, in this respect.. -
