A lot of them have nothing left to save (thanks to your beloved gov who been raising living expenses year after year).Originally posted by Mat Toro:yes, dunno how to spend and dunno how to save.
Mmmh, frankly speaking... do you feel the quality of life is improving for Singaporeans in general? The fact that our CPF withdrawal is about to be pushed back to 65 years old tells you alot that something is wrong wrong wrong.Originally posted by banzie:actually I believed the better life right to say in statistical point of view... it is not the improvement of lives for EVERY single singaporean which is impossible... but the improvement of lifes for Majority of the Singaporean... Sadly to say these retrenched senior worker are a by product of this competitive market.
Looking at places like USA and Japan or even the booming China, Singapore is quite a nice place atually.
not true, they have nothing to save because they dunno how to spend.Originally posted by royston_ang:A lot of them have nothing left to save (thanks to your beloved gov who been raising living expenses year after year).
What do they spend on?Originally posted by Mat Toro:yes, dunno how to spend and dunno how to save.
Oh? From the below extract, how would you advice Madam Aishan to save from her monthly wages of only $400? I sure would like to hear how you can survive on just $400, having to spent on daily necessities like transport, food, housing, etc, and yet be able to save.Originally posted by Mat Toro:not true, they have nothing to save because they dunno how to spend.

[b]Ya, tell us how (please include all the breakdown).
Straits Times
S'pore's dirty secret
They keep offices, shopping centres and the roads clean. But their wages look shabby compared to the rest of boomtown Singapore. SUE-ANN CHIA finds out why the pay of cleaners and labourers declined over the past decade
EVERY DAY, Madam Aishah Mohamed Yunos, 30, toils at four blocks in a Bukit Panjang housing estate, wiping walls and lifts and sweeping and mopping floors.
The neighbourhood is spick and span. But the job pays crumbs.
At least that is what Madam Aishah feels when she pockets her monthly wages of $400. If that's not lousy enough, she has not had a pay rise in two years on the job. ...

What reason he refused it?Originally posted by Mat Toro:The income gap is not the fault of the govt.
I remember the case of an employed man and his son living in an empty flat.
He turned down a job.
The problem with most singaporeans is, they tend to look to the govt for solutions for everything, even their own private matters.
I thought the problem has stopped for the time being?Originally posted by HyperFocal:quote:

SOME people tended to look to the government for help in most everything BECAUSE the government wants to and have been controlling everyone's lives ... who else to look to other than the ones holding on to the people's money??
look at CPF monies, ... which by the way, was supposed to ENSURE people can "retire" ... but it is FAILING because it is Fundamentally Flawed...and it is hence progressively postponed further and further away from people...
Lets not talk about people looking to them for solutions; look at the Dengue problem, have they found a way to eradicate it instead of Firfighting each time Dengue Season comes around?? It's been friggin decades and its still a problem...!!!
Let me tell you lah... they only interested in money making, and counting money..... nothing else...

.. the longer people lives, the more they need their money for medical treatments... by holding on to their monies, many may not make it to 65 to see any Golden Years left...!
Many people who are above 55 are suffering from some kind of ailment, commonly diabetes, high blood presssure, heart proplems... as such employers shun them which puts them in a spot without job to fund their treatments, while, their money is stuck in CPF - Medisave is totally useless; how is a person to foot any percentage of the medical bill when jobless, and retirement funds are only touchable at 65 and even then, it is a monthly of around $300?

Are countries in this world as small as Singapore?
Lame as hell you are... somethings as invisible as SARS they can contain and control... but Dengue being so visible and tangible cannot be controlled in 4 farking decades???

Will you guarantee that costs won't be depressed by the import of cheap labour? The onus does not lie with us.Originally posted by Mat Toro:OK, are you then willing to pay more for conservancy? Thats my point. When faced with it, he ran away.
