i agree, except for afghanistan.Originally posted by Gazelle:Like I said before, a place that is nice for holiday and retire etc, is not necessary the best place to work and make money.
If you have money, where ever you go is nice.
I guess it is the danger and the restriction that is a turn off for Afghan, other than that, I believe it is still a very beautiful and scenic country.Originally posted by Mat Toro:i agree, except for afghanistan.

Coincidentally, totally unrelated and unplanned, I happen to also be out of singapore on that day. And this is not meant to send any signal too.
Commodification mah. Everything can be packaged and sold.Originally posted by charlize:Can it be helped?
Have you noticed that these days, NDP is used as a tool to attract more new immigrants than to celebrate the achievements of Singaporeans?
If you don't believe me, there was actually an advert on TV about a new citizen originally from Turkey extolling the virtues of living in Singapore. I believe the ad was related to the NDP if I can recall correctly.
Attracting people to come live in Singapore is one thing, but to use a national celebration to achieve that aim?
That's like George Bush asking non Americans to become US citizens during his Independence Day speech.
Is it appropriate?
haha yeap..me too..actually au contrare to what the media always like to portray, saudi arabia is actually one modern thriving metropolis, where although women are banned from driving, almost 90% of sadi citizens have chaffeurs and maids..heheOriginally posted by Gazelle:I guess it is the danger and the restriction that is a turn off for Afghan, other than that, I believe it is still a very beautiful and scenic country.
Top of my list in this aspect would be Saudi Arabia and maybe PNG.

Please do not belittle the citizens of the greatest country on Earth - at least, their ignorance could be better excused given the dearth of exposure to matters around the world.Originally posted by maurizio13:You are a typical equivalent North Korean singing praises about their regime.
