It is only natural.. WHY?Originally posted by Meilin86:Why is Singaporean flowning their face going to work in the morning? Long hours, OT everyday till late nights, facing their bosses everyday, tons of works? Feeling extreme low mood having monday blues. It is a torture to sit in that office cubicles, rushing unfinished works for the whole day. I am underpaid but have to suffer the mental torture. My overpaid boss does nothing.
Stress, stress and more stress!! Crazy work, and frustrated, in the result I threw my keyboard and smashed the monitor screen in the office..![]()

It seen like most of our fellow countrymen having the wages still struck between the range. With such expensive housing and transport in the future, how can my future husband and I afford that? Property play seen like the rich men games En-blocking. We poor have to lag behind the societies again.Originally posted by HyperFocal:It is only natural.. WHY?
Just picture this; before the ordinary wage earner can receive that increment in salary at work, there will be an increase in something. And when an ordinary wage earner finally gets that raise of promotion, they find costs of certain monthly necessities have again gone up.. and when people who were looking forward to retiring and seeing to some of their heard earned CPF monies, the government pushed it further away to 65 years old...
How can anyone, SMILE - or have passion for that matter?
"Boss" and senior management are not judged based on the number of hours they work behind their desk, but rather their ability to grow the business and meet shareholders' expectation.Originally posted by Meilin86:My boss either read newspapers or doing nothing. I agree with you. I like Master Yoda too. But this is Singapore not movies. Most of the slaves in my workplace are pushed to do multiple tasks in single days. Til burned-out. Fixed labour with exponential rate of work-load. Top management only care about profits and squeeze the juice from us. Executed stomped, trampled and stressed by deadline.........Originally posted by Gazelle:"Boss" and senior management are not judged based on the number of hours they work behind their desk, but rather their ability to grow the business and meet shareholders' expectation.
Instead of comparing yourself to your boss, you should be more inspired to work harder and smarter so that you can do what he is doing.
In the movie Star Wars, Master Yoda is always seating on the chair and playing with kids, while young jedi are always training and out protecting the galaxy. However when the war erupted, it is always the Master Yoda that safe the Jedi

Passion is irrelevant. Even if you love your hobby, when your hobby becomes work, you'll just want to get it over and done with...... passion and interest are the furthest from your minds!
I'm pretty happy with my lot in the office at present. I'm just not happy that my immediate boss is so goddamn bo liao and yet can be sitting pretty above me and dishing out stoo-pid instructions.........![]()

Suppose 86 is an indicative of your birth year, I would suppose that you are now only about 21 years old and suppose if you grad from university, you must have only work for 1 year or so? am i right?Originally posted by Meilin86:I agree with you. you have just described quite a large population of people out there...Originally posted by Eiizumi:Well, experienced people love to weigh less experience people down with their so-called historical experience instead of solving current issues to the best solution. Nowadays people just use standard answers. If this goes on, how can one learn?
Bosses and workers are alike. If one is stubborn and inflexible, time will catch with one.
From my point of view, moral ethics are the most important.
I doubt anyone wants to face a political enemy at work, a colleague who like to wayang or saka. Or a boss who is biase, on rewarding apple polishers and bootlickers. These people don't have moral ethics.
precisely. i suggest a political purge of these people . lolOriginally posted by mistyblue:you have just described quite a large population of people out there...
Have you noticed that most asian societies are similar? Do you see the Japanese, Thais or Malaysians smiling when they go to work?Originally posted by Meilin86:Why is Singaporean flowning their face going to work in the morning? Who is forcing the old aunties to go on streets and forage cans from dustbins ?
Who is pushing the retirement age and the minimum CPF savings further up ?
The majority of the peasants work to live but FTs, as well as the bus / GST hikes, are making their lives even harder.
If you can live a decent lifestyle without having to work then i say you are one lucky guy.
