Because my school got people tio cane for not singing national anthem.Originally posted by Slipshade:What do you mean by 'force'? I was never forced to sing the national anthem during my school days and I don't think they will do that anyway.![]()
Ok sgrean, i think the internet is going to slowly help raise political awareness among the younger generations.Originally posted by Xephone_xenon:I sgrean la.
My views?
Majority of younger generations does not give a damm about singing the national anthem.
If they do it, its probaly just out of fear.
And this forcing of singing national anthem thing is just a huge irony.
How can we help, and make younger generations start to give damm about their country.
And be more aware of political issues?
Maybe we should add some tamil, english and chinese into our anthem.. Becox these are our 4 main races.Originally posted by hisoka:the national anthem should be in a more common language to the citzens and the song needs to be updated to have more meaning.
hmmz then again lets not give them an excuse to get a committee to not change anything![]()

Are you sure that's true? Honestly I don't believe you, but if it's true, then it's uncalled for.Originally posted by Xephone_xenon:Because my school got people tio cane for not singing national anthem.
Do you actually believe that such an event will not be send to ST forums or stomp? My guess is that the TS is only telling half the story.Originally posted by googoomuck:Loyalty to the country always. Loyalty to the government when it deserves it.
Caning students for not singing the national anthem, entirely uncalled-for.
I can assure you that this is just some BS coming from somone that has been punished by his/her school.Originally posted by Slipshade:Are you sure that's true? Honestly I don't believe you, but if it's true, then it's uncalled for.
Singing of the National Anthem should simply be encouraged, tactfully instilled in students. But applying the cane on those who did not sang, is very much the ways of some 3rd world countries....Originally posted by googoomuck:Loyalty to the country always. of course you say you don't bluff lah, but we can tell there is not the truth the whole truth here, if you are not bluffing, then the guy who told you bluff you and you are stupid not to understand the whole truth before you post here.Originally posted by Xephone_xenon:Really la.
Bluff you for what.
Its a big joke actually.
School forcing students to sing the national anthem.
And students singing just for the sake of singing.
I am not really complaining about the harsh punishment they gave.
But dont you think that by doing all this.
It will actually make the particular student dislike the country more?
And do you think that there is a hidden political message behind this?
As a singaporean, you must listen to the gahmen. And at the same time you MUST love singapore.
And it seems to me that the NE is failing on students.![]()

First of all, how does the school find out that your friends were not singing? got teacher standing next to him huh?
Secondly, if the teacher canned the fellow the first time he was caught not singing, or was he warned before?
Everybody has the right to be angry if harsh punishment is wrong executed on them, so don't B S you are not complaining about the wrong punishment. If the guy think he kenna canned wrongly, why is he not angry with the school, but instead "dislike the country more". The country never say those who don't sing national anthem should be canned. Watch during this year NDP, catch anyone not singing then bring them to court and can them lah???
What hidden political message? you don't sing national anthem then you are not respecting the country, if this is your attitude towards the nation, sooner or later, any Singaporean, I mean any Singaporean would want to teach you a lesson or boot you out of the country. It is not a joke.
Do you love your country? never mind the government. What did you learn from NE? What is Singapore to you?
Your friend must have misbehaved and kenna canned, or is it you who kenna canned but feel ashamed to tell the truth so give a half truth, hoping for some support here?![]()
