1) Rally speech has always been the eve of NDP, so it is tomorrow, not 2 days to go. If you have used your little brain to think, you would have know that is it impossible and pointless to conduct a rally speech during the national parade.

i'm for the more moderate stance with regards to our leaders, and prefer to take the view's of Lazer Lords.
You can see for yourself what is happening in our region and for that matter, it's also good to feel the ground ( for yourself) about the issues regarding Singaporeans and not just base your comments/opinions on media reports, blogs, posts etc
Once you have seen many perspectives on the issue, then you can make a more solid stand in favour or otherwise about local politics.
Having been in a country with a one party dominance for the past 40 odd years, I feel we are becoming increasingly desensitised to the global changes and the issues that are facing the masses. Yes, we as 'the man in the street' are not understanding what is happening around us. You could blame our pro government media, or you could blame yourself.
Whatever the case is, i think it's wise to take a step back, look at the situation locally and globally and assess for yourself how favourable is the local political scene.
Just my thoughts. -
Sir Sickolot II, well i see and understand your point of view. Franky speaking,I am not hardcore Anti PAP or that sort. I am just disagreeable with their recent policies and their justification on its implementation.
I dealed with global economies for almost more than 18 years mainly G7 and some emerging markets. Of all these years, I came to learn something that is more fearsome that most of us actually realized i.e inflation and the disparities between the richs and the poors. It is the love of the country that we comment else why bother.
If the Pro PAP camp as of Gazelle and Toro,OM be able provides more factual findings instead of mindless blabbering, I will definitely gives much respect. Of course. not the likes of Lionnoisy who gives stats, bashing other countries. This in return gaining the adverse effects instead of the supposedly feel good ones. At times, i do wonder if the Pro PAP camp here, are actually Anti government supporters playing the reverse psychological roles -

Do we need to list out policies for you that could be better? Do you really think that unpopular policies are necessary for the 'good' of the people because Singaporeans cannot think? So overall, GST may not even bring about an increase in tax revenue... because spending on luxury goods will definitely drop. In the end, most of what people will spend on may most likely be necessary goods, which all, including both rich and poor, will have to spend. Which means => the poor will suffer more than the rich because they wouldn't be buying much luxury goods in the first place => the poor's expenditure cannot be reduced much, unlike the rich.
So how much can GST hike, as our dear govt has said, help even out the income gap, and gives more revenue to help the poor?

there are many factors affecting consumption and so it's not really meaningful to state as a whole spending on luxury goods may drop due to a 2 point hike in GST. Other factors like increased affluence, different sales tactics in response to a rise in GST may actually curb the drop in total spendings as an economy.
Personally, i prefer an increase in GST than an increase in Income Tax. Then again, no tax is better!!!

Has anyone REALLY tried to piece all the policies together to make sense of things going on? Perhaps it is ONE story and not many individual stories ?
If you are able to piece the information into ONE story, you get a multi million dollar answer. Because many people are wondering about the effect of the IR's completion on their private condos' prices.
