LKY may or may not think that the present leadership team is inferior compared to the old guards. There is no real benchmark to base on.
on the contrary, i really do think they are underpaid. politicians in other countries do much less and get much more.
But one thing from i can see, they are one bunch of
highly overpaid politicians.![]()

Both these takes courage my fren.
Of course, the new bunch of groupie had the world best excuse to justified their new policies. Examples as of
1) Raise GST(consumption tax) by 2 % (fuel the rate of inflation) to help the poors.![]()

2) Raise their paycheck by est 20% as so that they will not be corrupted![]()

so what are your benchmarks? please explain.
Therefore given a choice, not taking oppositions parties into consideration. I would much prefer the old guards (Mr Lim Kim San, Mr Goh Keng Swee,Mr Ong Teng Cheong, Mr Toh Chin Chye etc) for their socio economical polices to the current bunch.![]()

It is true to let history judge but the challenges they faced today is certainly not easy especially keeping economic growth.Originally posted by blueheeler:whether the current cabinet is as good as the pioneers is something for 'history' to judge, isn't it? in the very least, it's not for MM to judge the quality of the cabinet that he has somehow had a hand in picking, right?
Hi Joe, I have taken your advice of ignoring that simpleton (Toro). How can we argue economics with a fool who cannot even differential cost of living and standard of living.Originally posted by bigmouthjoe:Mat you are nothing more than a stupid troll, everyone is laughing at you.![]()

Huh, me whiner ???Originally posted by Gazelle:It is so obvious that whiners like you are just like empty vessel who have no clue about what is going on in Singapore.
1) Rally speech has always been the eve of NDP, so it is tomorrow, not 2 days to go. If you have used your little brain to think, you would have know that is it impossible and pointless to conduct a rally speech during the national parade.
2) If PM Lee is not your leader, may I know who is? I hope it is not some forumers here.....![]()

1) Raise GST = rise in tax = reduced expenditure = economy drop more due to multiplier effectOriginally posted by miserable:[b]--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

just a thought about the GST hike and thus a drop in consumer spending leading to a shrinking of the economy...Originally posted by eagle:1) Raise GST = rise in tax = reduced expenditure = economy drop more due to multiplier effect
So overall, GST may not even bring about an increase in tax revenue... because spending on luxury goods will definitely drop. In the end, most of what people will spend on may most likely be necessary goods, which all, including both rich and poor, will have to spend. Which means => the poor will suffer more than the rich because they wouldn't be buying much luxury goods in the first place => the poor's expenditure cannot be reduced much, unlike the rich.
So how much can GST hike, as our dear govt has said, help even out the income gap, and gives more revenue to help the poor?
2) Pay check rise => financed by GST hike so that the budget at the end of the year does not look that bad?
Employers' CPF contribution have not yet risen to pre-1997 level of 20%, but minister pay is already higher than pre-1997.... This is like WOW!
Mat Toro, you have so much to say and made the above suggestion then go go ahead to join old Lee in his "advertising campaign" to sell the lacklustre PAP. It is futile for you to come here to debate, makes unuseful suggestion and create nuisance to the people here. If you join the old Lee for his "advertising campaign" he may make you his "right hand" man, and then your left hand will be useless and lacklustre like them, ha ha ha!!!
